Lovers of prohibition era swing, jazz and blues music are invited to join Gerald Schreiner, Daneel van Der Walt, David Lubbe and the Swing Cats to drink and dance away their sorrows the old fashioned way. With the country entering a technical recession, The Reserve At The Taj Hotel returns to the era of the Great Depression this September. SWING INTO SPRING promises a night of unforgettable music, with everyone able to dance the night away in fabulous outfits that celebrate the era of speakeasies and old school dinner dances. Guests will be entertained with a mix of jazz, blues and swing music, including familiar standards such as "Too Darn Hot", "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" and "On the Sunny Side of the Street". There will be a dance floor, allowing everyone to get off their chairs and foxtrot, swing, tap or do the jitterbug. All guests are requested to dress the part - although it is not compulsory, costumes will add to the vibe - in flapper dresses, flat caps or any outfit that recalls the days of champagne glasses moulded off the breast of Marie Antoinette. Tickets for the show cost R120, which does not include the dinner service or drinks.
