Soprano Cecilia Rangwanasha, who recently won second place, and the audience prize at the Philip Schock Singing Competition, will perform in Cape Town Opera's SPARKLING YOUNG STARS event at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre this December. This will be the climax of a terrific year for Rangwanasha, who also won the ATKV Muziquanto competition in September and second prize at the UNISA National Voice Competition in July.
Rangwanasha will be joined on stage by Siphamandla Yakupa, Nonhlanhla Yende, Frances du Plessis, Johannes Slabbert, Martin Mkhize and Thomas Mohlamme in what promises to be a thrilling evening of classical music, operetta and musical theatre. The eight soloists, accompanied by pianist Paul Ferreira, will offer their glorious voices and inspired interpretations of works by Johann Strauss II, Franz Lehar, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Frederick Loewe and Mzilikazi Khumalo, performing favourites from CAMELOT, MY FAIR LADY and DIE FLEDERMAUS, amongst others, as well as a lively African repertoire.
Tickets for Cape Town Opera's return to the winelands with SPARKLING YOUNG STARS on 20 December at 20:15 cost R220 and are available through Computicket.
