New Jon Keevy Play EVERY BEAUTIFUL THING to Debut at the Alexander Upstairs Theatre
EVERY BEAUTIFUL THING, a new play written by Jon Keevy (A GIRL CALLED OWL, DIRTY WORDS, GET KRAKEN!), will make its bow at the Alexander Upstairs Theatre this week. Performed by Briony Horwitz ( A GIRL CALLED OWL, MACBETH, THE BIG 'O') and Jazzara Jaslyn (A LIE OF THE MIND, MEPHISTO, LION ON THE PATH), the play is directed by Tara Notcutt (THE THREE LITTLE PIGS, ... MISKIEN, MAFEKING ROAD).
EVERY BEAUTIFUL THING is a story about two sisters. Susan is adopted. Katelyn is her younger sister - the miracle baby. Susan is a lawyer, wife and mother. Katelyn just rolled her car down a mountain. In the hospital, pain meds and memory twinkle under fluorescent lights, circling ever closer to the truth. This is a play about silence and noise. About waiting. About old habits, blood bonds, miracles and spare parts. A play about the strange, powerful moments that carve into memory like water through sand.
Produced by the team behind the acclaimed A GIRL CALLED OWL, EVERY BEAUTIFUL THING once again sees Keevy and Horwitz collaborating on a new South African play. Given the success of their first partnership and her thirst to work on something challenging and beautiful again, Horwitz commissioned Keevy to write a new play loosely inspired by events in her family.
EVERY BEAUTIFUL THING runs at the Alexander Upstairs Theatre from 14 - 23 May at 7pm nightly.
