Local Comedian and MC Mel Jones Casts a Spell in International Dinner Cirque Show ENCHANTED

Local comedian and MC Mel Jones has been casting a spell as The Enchantress in ENCHANTED, the thrilling international cirque production that opened in the Cape Town last month. Jones hosts the show in the mirror palace next to the Cape Town Stadium, presenting - with the help of co-host Piky Pokus, a multi-talented slapstick performer from Argentina - some of the world's finest entertainment artists to audiences in the Mother City.

Jones is a mother, a stand up comic, an award-nominated producer and an energetic and hugely popular corporate comedian and MC. Capetonians may have heard her on the radio as the co-presenter of a very popular morning show, seen her on SABC3's COMEDY SHOWCASE, THE PHAT JOE SHOW and Comedy Central's critically acclaimed comedy and sketch show, BITCHES. She has also appeared in the KING SIZE COMEDY tour, the BLACKS ONLY COMEDY SHOW, MIND THE GAP, THE HEAVYWEIGHT COMEDY JAM and KINGS & QUEENS OF COMEDY.

The superstar acts that Jones introduces include crossbow contortionist and silk artist, Orissa Kelly; cloud swing and hoop artist, Tom McKinnon; laser and bubble magic man, Thomas Favaro; and twin trapeze aerial acrobatic act, Aquaterra. Many more sensational acts await to thrill the audience from the moment when glamorous guests step inside the opulent venue in which the magic unfolds.

Proudly supported by KFM94.5, ENCHANTED takes place in its specially constructed venue on the P3 parking in Green Point, in front of the Cape Town Stadium, behind McDonald's. The show is currently booking online through 10 December, with performances running Wednesdays through Saturdays at 20:00, with matinees taking place on Saturday at 15:00 and Sunday at 17:00. Individual tickets range in price from R350 - R550, with group bookings of ten or more costing R250 - R450. Delicious small plates created by Ginger & Lime Food Studio are also available at an additional cost. Performances of ENCHANTED have been suspended, following the situation described as described in the following extract from the production's website.

Dear customers and ENCHANTED fans, it is with great sadness and a heavy heart that ENCHANTED CIRQUE has to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances and matters beyond our control, the production will close effective immediately.

The circumstances have included ENCHANTED CIRQUE being victim of a major theft by an ex-employee, and other misconduct and matters which has significantly affected the ongoing viability of the show. Notwithstanding this we have earnestly tried to keep the production up and running, but the financial and effect of the gross misconduct and other unforeseen matters have become crippling. Over the next weeks we will be contacting any outstanding customers who have booked and paid for tickets to the shows that will be affected about the process for refunds. If you have booked but have not yet paid, please do not pay as we cannot guarantee those payments will be able to be refunded. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you all for your patience, understanding and consideration.
