ImproGuise Presents: The 7th Annual Improv Fest at Alexander Upstairs
The ImproGuise guys, Cape Town's best-loved and longest running improv troupe, are delighted and excited to bring their 7th annual improv festival to their favourite theatre, the Alexander Bar. This year ImproGuise will be performing a mix of improv formats from the most popular, TheatreSports, to outrageous musical mayhem in Tribute. Every show is totally different, guaranteeing an hour of the most entertaining and creative theatrical improv.
Here is what you can expect on each night...
Tues 9th - Fake Place is a homespun tale. A handful of highly skilled improvisers explore a fictional place and play all the loveable and eccentric characters in it. Heart-warming and gut- wrenchingly funny.

Wed 10th - Stuck in the Middle (created by Rik Brown) tortures one brave improviser, who is stuck on stage for a whole hour while all the other improvisers come on and change the scenes. It is crazy, hilarious and high energy improv.

Thurs 11th - Tribute is an Improvised "rockumentary" tribute show about a made up band, with real, made up songs based on titles from the audience. Raucous, rambunctious fun! This format is always sold out, so book early.

Fri 12th - TheatreSports is by far the audience favourite. Old school highly competitive short form improv where two teams compete for the highest score, judged by the audience. Book for the whole family now.

Sat 13th- SuperScene, in which 5 actors take turns to direct a scene. One by one the scenes are voted off by the audience with a clap-o-meter. Finally, a winner of the ultimate prize of "SuperScene" emerges. This is Improv at its best: wildly creative, hugely competitive and highly entertaining.

ImproGuise, Cape Town's longest-running, award-winning, Improv Company have been performing continuously in Cape Town and around the country for the past 23 years, bringing you the internationally recognised short form Improv, TheatreSports. They have also introduced audiences to other fabulous Long form improv formats; some that they learned from fellow improvisers across the globe, and some that they invented themselves such as: Superscene, On the couch, Period drama, Improvised Chekov, Tribute, Little Space between, Soapathon, Jam Sandwich, First Kiss, Last kiss, Musical, Naked Improv, The Chair, Stuck in the Middle, Wordplay, Film Noir, Easy Inn and their annual Improv fest, to name but a few. They perform and teach at various theatres, schools, corporates and festivals both in South Africa and abroad.
