Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre Group's cult classic URBAN DEATH kicks off a second week of thrills and chills for the Mother City with this scream of a show! The American-based theatre company is co-producing their cult live horror show with The Mechanicals in Cape Town, for their first ever run in South Africa.

In the US, ZJU is in its 21st season of delivering award-winning, ground-breaking and original theatre to Los Angeles and New York audiences. Director and show co-creator, Jana Wimer, travelled to Cape Town to collaborate with an all-South African cast and create a unique and culturally relevant Mzansi version of URBAN DEATH.

The South African cast includes veterans and newcomers and embraces Mzanzi's cultural diversity from City Bowl to Samora Machel, exposing local audiences to an exciting mix of storytelling talents. The 10 players will, in an hour, take theatre-goers on a fast-paced thrill ride filled with terror, amusement, shock, poignancy and plenty of nervous laughter scattered throughout. Just like after a heart-stopping ride on a rollercoaster, audiences will want to come back for more.

The show is entirely without dialogue, thus eliminating potential language barriers and setting the stage for a visceral experience. The viewer's imagination is stimulated, intrigued and amused. ZJU's trademark physical theatre style is unlike anything Cape Town audiences have seen before.

The show resumes performances on 10 December, with the run continuing until 15 December. Performances are at 8pm nightly and take place at the Intimate Theatre, at 37 Orange Street, Gardens in Cape Town. Tickets for the Cape Town shows will be available via Webtickets or by calling +27 (0) 71 865 0650 or +27 (0) 84 245 2596. Tickets cost R120 per person, with a R70 concession price for students and seniors. Block Bookings of 10 or more can buy tickets for R100 per person.
