Margit Meyer-Rödenbeck, as short as her surname is long, is the woman behind Dowwe Dolla. She is a woman who does not know how to not be busy, and for that matter, also does not know how to keep quiet! Busy as a beaver with a bee in her bonnet might be an apt way to describe this formidable woman, or perhaps that good things comes in small packages. Whichever description you prefer, know that she has more energy than her small frame is able to contain, and describes herself as impudent, insolent and just plain cheeky. She started with her Drama Degree in 1988 at the University of Stellenbosch, and this was also her alma mater for her Honours Degree in 1991 and her Master's Degree in Theatre Management in 1997. After her studies Margit's plan was to focus on writing and directing, but then life happened and nowadays she is an established comedienne, master of ceremonies, presenter, speaker, voice artist and yes, writer and director. She is also the co-owner of Die Boer Theatre Restaurant in Durbanville.

Wicus van der Merwe was born in Clanwilliam in 1972, eldest child of the legendary Tolla van der Merwe and his wife, Marieta. His mother always said that he does not shy away from the limelight, and it was inevitable for him to end up on stage, one way or another. His academic achievements include a three-year BA Degree with Drama and Psychology as majors, nicely fitted into four years. He completed his second third-year by not impressing his drama lecturer at all and started a career in short-term insurance industry shortly after graduating. But his talent proved to be too much for the insurance industry and he released his first CD in December 2002. His initial release was followed by six more CD's and two DVD's, four of which achieved Gold status, two of which were nominated for a SAMA award and a Ghoema and a Tempo award for best comedy album. Quite fancy! Wicus is also a well-known presenter on television and have hosted two of the biggest concerts in the South African entertainment industry: Skouspel and Skouspel Plus.

These two icons of Afrikaans comedy have now joined forces in the production Dowwe Wicus en Dolla van der Merwe. Away with all the bigots, potbelly-bloaters, the moaners and the groaners! Away with the party poopers and the busy bodies, the wet blankets and the worrywarts, the cock-eyed aunties and the sad sacks! Away with all the over-nuanced, goody two shoes, politically correct holier-than-thou cynics!

But be warned: if you don't laugh until the tears stream down your cheeks, we might just have to spray you with Doom! Dowwe Wicus en Dolla van der Merwe at Carnival City kicks off at 20:00. Tickets are on sale at Computicket (0861 915 8000). Groups of more than 10 will receive substantial discounts.
