TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2018/19 season with the World Premiere of Hershey Felder: A Paris Love Story, written and performed by piano virtuoso Hershey Felder, who shattered box office records at TheatreWorks with his acclaimed portrayals of Irving Berlin, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. Now, Felder captures the life and music of Impressionist composer Claude Debussy, a visionary who proclaimed nature his religion, creating music of ravishing beauty, color, and compassion, from the sweeping "La mer" to the evocative "Prelude a l'apres-midi d'un faune" and the mystical "Clair de lune." Intertwined with Debussy's story, Felder for the first time shares his own deeply personal connection to the City of Light. San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon presents its first 2019 production, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical FIORELLO! Based on the life of New York City's legendary mayor Fiorello H. The 2018 season continues with the Broadway At Music Circus premiere of the mega-hit musical comedy Mamma Mia!, which has been seen by millions of people worldwide and launched two enormously popular movies.  The plot involves a woman who, on the eve of her wedding, attempts to discover the identity of her father by bringing three men from her mother's past back to an island paradise.  Featuring more than 20 hit songs by pop super-group ABBA, including "Dancing Queen," "Take a Chance on Me," "The Name of the Game" and "The Winner Takes It All," this high-spirited, feel-good international sensation has audiences singing and dancing in the aisles.  Performances of Mamma Mia! are Tuesday, August 7 through Sunday, August 12 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.  Ticket availability for the show is extremely limited due to high demand.

Los Altos Hills will be alive with The Sound of Music this summer, when multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents the Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award-winning musical. This beloved musical, set in Austria in 1938, follows novice Maria Rainer who becomes the governess for the von Trapp family, capturing the hearts of the seven children and their father, a widowed naval captain. As the Nazis occupy Austria, the family is forced make decisions which forever change their lives, fleeing their home in pursuit of freedom. Director Milissa Carey, music director William Liberatore, and choreographers Brett and C.J. Music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, and book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. Hairspray will be directed by J. Scott Lapp (SDMT's First Date, The Prince of Egypt, Bonnie & Clyde), with choreography by Jill Gorrie (SDMT's Singin' in the Rain, 42nd Street, Damn Yankees), and music direction by Don LeMaster. Hairspray runs August 3 - September 2, 2018 at the historic Horton Grand Theatre, with press opening on Saturday, August 4 at 8:00 PM.
