Bay Area Musicals presents the Tony Award-nominated VIOLET. Inspired by the short story "The Ugliest Pilgrim" by Doris Betts, the World Premiere 1997 Off-Broadway production of VIOLET won the Drama Critics' Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical, and the revised version that debuted on Broadway in 2014 was Tony Award-nominated. Featuring a folk/bluegrass/gospel-flavored score from Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori (CAROLINE, OR CHANGE; THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE; SHREK; FUN HOME) and book and lyrics by the acclaimed Brian Crawley (A LITTLE PRINCESS), VIOLET has been astounding critics and audiences alike for over two decades.

Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is pleased to announce its production of Violet, which will kick off its 20th Anniversary Season. The show has book and lyrics by Brian Crawley, music by Jeanine Tesori, direction and choreography by Kari Hayter, and musical direction by Robyn Manion. Violet will preview from February 2 through February 9; regular performances will begin February 10 and continue through March 4 at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center on the Cripe Stage.

Sans the female lead Joanna Ampil (Candida), who's currently part of the UK/International tour of the musical Cats, the rest of the cast and the creative team behind the stage-to-screen adaptation of Nick Joaquin's A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino ( Ang Larawan ) recently met with the members of the Philippine press with one plea: urge the moviegoing public to catch the movie musical Ang Larawan during its first two days at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which traditionally opens on Christmas Day and runs through the holidays.

Skylight Music Theatre today presents this holiday season's production of Annie. This seven-time Tony Award-winning musical runs from November 17 through December 23, 2017 in the beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

The Theatre Group at SBCC opens the 17/18 season with Cole Porter's sparkling musical, HIGH SOCIETY, July 12-29 in the Garvin Theatre.

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, kicks off its 19th Annual Festival tomorrow, August 14, running through August 30, 2015. This year, festival productions including SHAKE THE EARTH, ELEPHANTS AND OTHER WORLDLY DILEMMAS and THE GAP among other rang the NASDAQ closing bell today to commemorate the festival's August 14th opening. The Menier Chocolate Factory  recently confirmed the international cast - hailing from across the UK, US and Canada, for the UK premiere of What's It All About? Bacharach Reimagined. Burt Bacharach's celebrated songbook is given an exciting new interpretation with Kyle Riabko's thrillingly original musical arrangement. This show, directed by Oliver Award-winner Steven Hoggett, is a dynamic 90-minute non-stop musical journey in which the 27-year-old Riabko leads a talented group of young performers through Bacharach's classic melodies, blending nostalgia and innovation, where generations old and new can revel in the joy of these hits as if for the very first time.

Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical plays at La Jolla Playhouse now through December 17 and will open at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in spring 2014. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will produce, in association with La Jolla Playhouse, a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical will play at La Jolla Playhouse November 5 through December 17 (opening night November 15) and at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater June 14 through July 13. The musical features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger who will revise the show before its debut at La Jolla.

Under the direction of Theater Latté Da artistic director Peter Rothstein, the production features a score by Tony Award nominee Jeanine Tesori, the composer whose music brought Tony Kushner's book and lyrics for Caroline, or Change to life.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, the laugh-inducing, award-winning musical comedy about love in the suburbs, is often described as 'Seinfeld set to music'. It's a hilarious look at love and relationships that is as touching and insightful as it is humorous. Four actors play over forty roles scaling the dizzying spectrum of male/female relationships. The trials and tribulations of being single, dating, marriage, loss, and heartbreak - and everything in the relationship process that you have ever secretly thought about, but were afraid to admit - are cleverly explored.

Previews are now underway at Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) for the New York premiere of Our House, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck (The Butterfly Collection and Bad Dates at Playwrights Horizons, Broadway's Mauritius, co-author of Omnium Gatherum). A scathing new comedy that shakes up Reality TV, Our House is the final production of the theater company's 2008/2009 Season.
