Abingdon Theatre Company (Chad Austin, Artistic Director) beginning its 27th season presented a one-night only special event: a staged reading of Robin & Me: My Little Spark of Madness, a new solo work written and performed by Dave Droxler, directed by Devin Dunne Cannon at The Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street), on Monday, November 11th at 7pm.

Musicals come in different forms. Musical comedies, such as 'Cinderella' and 'School of Rock' intend to entertain. Musical dramas--think 'Dear Evan Hansen,' 'Come From Away,' and 'Hamilton,' relay thoughtful ideas in words, song and dance. The musical tragedy, such as 'Sweeney Todd' and 'The Kiss Of The Spider Woman,' which is now on stage at Blank Canvas, finds a 'victim' in a society which doesn't understand or appreciate them, resulting in dire consequences.

London Classic Theatre returns to the Everyman with their production of Noel Coward's comedy masterpiece, Private Lives. Olivia Beardsley and Helen Keeley reprise their roles as Sibyl Chase and Amanda Prynne and they are joined by three new cast members: Gareth Bennett-Ryan (Elyot Chase), Paul Sandys (Victor Prynne) and Rachael Holmes-Brown (Louise).

The online world of social media began long before the internet exploded with email services and today's outlandish graphics and photo capabilities. Local BBS online systems allowed its members to log on, visit various chat rooms on lots of topics and create a world unto themselves by just typing away and watching plain text conversations fly by at rapid speed. No graphics - no photos - just words from however many users were in that particular chat room. It was a heady time when anyone could pretend to be whoever they wanted to be and create worlds where each of us could be a star - or the controller of everyone and everything going on in that imaginary room. Have avatar, will travel.
