FULL BLOOM by New Vision Dance Co. (NVD) celebrated 6 years of concert dance at the Garden Theater. The audience enjoyed an experience of a bouquet of dance onstage with Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap creations. Guest artists/collaborators include sculptor Sara Hahn, Starr Foster Dance from Richmond, VA, Jessica Gould, Lisa Glover, 'Piper & Poppy', Katherine Burkman, Chad Goodwin and recording artist Mario Spinetti. Featuring choreography by Artistic Director Melissa Gould, Jonathon Hill, Dan Kiley and Michael Musarra. Performances were held July 12 & 13th, 2019 at the Garden Theatre. Save the date, NVD's next show is "Come dance with me, a tribute to the Rat Pack". October 12th, 2019 at the McCoy in New Albany. Just last night, New York City Center concluded the Encores! season with High Button Shoes. The production featured Aidan Alberto (Stevie), Jennifer Allen (Shirley Simpkins), Kevin Chamberlin (Mr. Pontdue), Carla Duren (Fran), Chester Gregory (Papa Longstreet), Mylinda Hull (Nancy), Marc Koeck (Oggle), Matt Loehr (Uncle Willy), Wayne Pretlow (Elmer Simpkins), Michael Urie (Harrison Floy), and Betsy Wolfe (Sara Longstreet).

As Porchlight Music Theatre is set to launch its 25th Anniversary Season as Chicago's center for music theatre, it celebrated 24 years and announced its 25th Anniversary co-chairs at the 2019 ICONS Gala Sunday, March 31 at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago, 160 E. Pearson. The 2019 ICONS GALA set a new attendance record with 300 guests in attendance and raised more funds that directly benefit Porchlight's artistic and educational programs than previous events. The elegant Gala Brunch, chaired by Tamara Sims, included performances from Chicago's leading talents celebrating the legendary career of Jerome Robbins, the presentation of The Luminary Award to Jean Klingenstein, introduced the 25th Anniversary chairs: RIck and Deann Bayless and Bill Kurtis and Donna La Pietra and silent and live auctions.

Dance With Me (DWM) hosted a special grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony and champagne toast for Dance With Me Buckhead, complete with local VIPs and celebrity guests. The party was held February 12, 2019 at 7 p.m. and featured live performances, general dancing and an opportunity to hang out with Dancing With the Stars champion Val Chmerkovskiy.

Verdict is in! The all-female ensemble for the staged reading of Twelve Angry Men (September 16, Theatre Row) received standing ovations for the stellar all-star company of Broadway women. Tony Award winner Cady Huffman directed the show which inspired and drew laughs from the standing-room-only house.

It's "a new day" at The Children's Theatre as their Showtime Series at Red Bank presents: Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical. Now playing through March 25! Polkadots tells the story of a young middle schooler, Lily Polkadot, who joins a new school, Rockaway, which has only had "Square" students in the past. This story holds so much relevance in today's society. It is so vital for all kids, and people in general, to know that their differences are not weaknesses, but strengths!

But for decades - especially from the mid 1950's to the mid 1960's - Leiber and Stoller were one of America's most successful songwriting teams. Stage Door Theatre will honor this iconic duo when they present Smokey Joe's Caf - The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, a compendium of some of their greatest hits, in the popular Margate venue's intimate Theatre 2 from December 15th through January 14th. Award-winning actor and musician Hershey Felder (George Gershwin Alone, Monsieur Chopin, Beethoven As I Knew Him) returns to Chicago with Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein. Combining first-person narrative with the music of composer Bernstein and the artists who inspired him, Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein is the story of the legendary American composer and longtime music director of the New York Philharmonic. Helmed by award-winning director Joel Zwick, Hershey Felder will return to Chicago's Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted, where from September 2004 through January 2006, he held residence with George Gershwin Alone and the World Premiere of Monsieur Chopin, culminating in 70 weeks of live performances. Maestro will begin previews on November 1st with press opening November 9th, and will play through December 30.
