Broadway Sessions kicked off it's new season recently with a celebration of alumni of the formidable MDT (Music/Dance/Theatre) program at Brigham Young University. Clark Johnsen (The Book of Mormon, La cage), Tregoney Shepherd (Les Mis, Phantom), Erin Wilson (Wicked), Steven Fales (Confessions of a Mormon Boy), Jacob Ben Widmar (Xanadu), Peter Nelson (Chicago, Cinderella), Broadway wardrobe veteran Jake Fry, Don Alden (Open Jar Studios), Knikki Hess Roberts, recent graduate Ellora Lattin and host Ben Cameron (a Utah native) share songs and stories from the sincere to the spectacularly hilarious. You may not know this, but our friendly neighborhood Broadway buddy, Ben Cameron, grew up in the Mormon church, just miles away from Brigham Young University. This makes him no stranger to the legendary Music/Dance/Theatre program that has been responsible for a number of our favorite stars including, but not limited to Oyoyo Joy Bonner (Book of Mormon), Delaney Westfall (Sweeney Todd), Megan Masako Haley (Wicked), Michael Milkanin (Kinky Boots), and Brian Russell Carey (Red Roses Green Gold). So obviously we invited them to sing us a tune as we welcomed phenomenal 2018 graduating class of BYU to NYC! Check out these video clips from the unforgettable night!

You can take the boy out of Utah, but can you ever take the Utah out of the boy? Who knows, but a couple weeks back at Broadway Sessions, we did learn that you can bring the Utah to the boy. Full disclosure: I, Ben Cameron, grew up in the great red state of Utah, just a mile or two from Brigham Young University. So, although you may not have known, I have known for years just how sensational the training is in the BYU Music/Dance/Theatre program. Training so goodie resulted in starry careers for alumni Paul Canaan (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), Alicia Shumway (The King and I), Zach Hess (The Book of Mormon), Michael Milkanin (Kinky Boots), Becca Petersen (Bandstand) and more. Check them out in action alongside the extremely talented '17 graduating MDT class.

Brigham Young University's a capella group Vocal Point pulled together 85 student performers and crew members to stage a showstopping, stripped down one-shot tribute to NEWSIES - and they undoubtedly succeeded.. Check it out below!

It's time for a return to Oz as Moonlight Stage Productions' 33rd summer season, the first planned by new Artistic Director Steven Glaudini, continues with the family classic THE WIZARD OF OZ, now playing through August 10. THE WIZARD OF OZ is presented by Moonlight for the first time as an adult production, with adult actors in the leading roles of the Royal Shakespeare Company version.
