Finian's Rainbow on Stage Videos - Broadway

Today we rewind to 2009, when Finian's Rainbow had its fourth Broadway revival at the St. James Theatre. Starring Cheyenne Jackson, Kate Baldwin, Christopher Fitzgerald, Jim Norton and Chuck Cooper, the musical transferred to Broadway following an Encores! production earlier that year. In Finian's Rainbow, An elderly Irishman, Finian, moves to the southern United States with his daughter Sharon, to bury a stolen pot of gold near Fort Knox, in the mistaken belief that it will grow. Og, a leprechaun, follows them, desperate to recover his treasure before the loss of it turns him permanently human. 

Actor and singer/songwriter, Cheyenne Jackson, has released a new holiday song, 'Plans', featuring Catey Shaw. Listen HERE. Produced by Jay Levine and Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, The Go-Go's, Richard Hell), 'Plans' draws inspiration from holiday classics while maintaining a modern flair.

Cheyenne Jackson will soon release the third single from his solo album, 'Don't Wanna Know,' which will be available for download starting December 18. Broadway favorite Cheyenne Jackson released 'Drive,' the 1st single from his upcoming July EP, last month, and according to his official website, the second single is coming soon. Today in 1955, Finian's Rainbow opened at City Center, where it ran for 15 performances. Finian's Rainbow is a musical with a book by E.Y. Harburg and Fred Saidy, lyrics by Harburg, and music by Burton Lane. The 1947 Broadway production ran for 725 performances. Finian moves to the southern United States (the fictional state of Missitucky is a humorous combination of Mississippi and Kentucky) from Ireland with his daughter Sharon, to bury a stolen pot of gold near Fort Knox, in the mistaken belief that it will grow. A leprechaun follows them, desperate to recover his treasure before the loss of it turns him permanently human. Complications arise when a bigoted and corrupt U.S. Senator gets involved, and when wishes are made inadvertently over the hidden crock.

Last night, October 14, Cheyenne Jackson returned to NBC's 30 Rock live episode, alongside Matt Damon and Jon Hamm. The FINIAN'S RAINBOW star first appeared on the hit comedy on November 14, 2009 as TGS cast member Danny, and made a second appearance in the November 20, 2009 episode. Tony Award Nominee and American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis, reprises his acclaimed performance as Drew. 'Rock of Ages' takes place in 1987 on the Sunset Strip where a small town girl meets a big city rocker at LA's most famous rock club.

The album, featuring Yip Harburg-Burton Lane's score, is being produced by Tommy Kasker of PS Classics. The CD's official release date is February 2, 2010 but pre-orders are being accepted now on the show's official web site for shipping in late January.

A Broadway Green Alliance E-Waste event, hosted byKerry Butler and Valerie Smaldone, will be held on Wednesday, December 16, in Duffy Square at noon. The Broadway Green Alliance, with the support of WeRecycle!, encourages the New York City theatre community to come deposit their Electronic Waste (broken cell phones, computers, printers, and dry batteries) in the center of Times Square for safe disposal and recycling.

FINIAN'S RAINBOW star Cheyenne Jackson is joining the cast of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series '30 Rock.' Jackson's first episode on the hit comedy series was last night, Thursday November 12th. The episode is titled 'THE PROBLEM SOLVERS' and also featured Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi.
