Simon Baker is an Australian actor, director, and producer who began his career in television after landing his first acting role in a commercial. He went on to star in Australian series including E Street, Home and Away, and Heartbreak High, winning the 1993 Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent. After relocating to the United States in the mid-1990s, he appeared in the Academy Award-winning film L.A. Confidential (1997) before gaining wider recognition as Nick Fallin in the legal drama The Guardian.
