Claibe Richardson was born on November 10, 1929 in Lufkin, Texas, to a wealthy banking family. His father was a very personal close friend of Huey B. Long, Govenor of Texas, who awarded Claibe a gold coin upon his birth. Claiborne Foster Richardson, also known as "CFR," died of cancer in his NY West Side apartment, which he had occupied since 1959.
