Andrew Lloyd Webber began his career in musical theatre in the 1960s, partnering with lyricist Tim Rice. Their early works included The Likes of Us (1965), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1968; expanded into a full-length stage musical in 1972), Jesus Christ Superstar (1970), and Evita (1978). He also collaborated with Alan Ayckbourn on Jeeves (1975), later revised as By Jeeves (1996).

He served as music director and conductor for Broadway’s Mrs. Doubtfire and its Original Broadway Cast Recording. His music supervision credits include Annie at Madison Square Garden starring Whoopi Goldberg, the national tours of Annie, and the second national tour of Mrs. Doubtfire. He also served as associate music supervisor for Mrs. Doubtfire’s first national tour.
