A new version of the classic, The Pirates of Penzance, is currently commanding the stage at Roundabout’s Todd Haimes Theatre on 42nd Street—formerly the American Airlines and before that, the Selwyn. This revisal of the beloved show is titled: Pirates! The Penzance Musical.

The play portrays the career of actress Lyson Gaster, stage name of Augustine Belber Pastor, Spanish created in Piracicaba, who with his revue theater company traveled Brazil in the 1920s, 30s and 40s to great success. Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

(UMC) will launch its 2014 developmental reading series at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts with a special presentation of Peggy-Ann, the hit 1926 musical comedy with a book by Tony Award winner Herbert Fields (Annie Get Your Gun) and a score by the legendary songwriting team of Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart (Pal Joey, On Your Toes). The reading, directed by Ben West (Unsung Carolyn Leigh, The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), will be held Thursday, May 22 at 2:30 PM in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.

When Bob Fosse, John Kander and Fred Ebb presented their jazz-aged masterpiece for the first time in 1975, I doubt they could foresee millions of people tuning in for highlights on the George Zimmerman trial on every major network. Nor could Maurine Dallas Watkins have any way of knowing that her play (CHICAGO is based on it) would be so topical for years to come, after writing it in 1926. But, nearly 90 years later, with trials on every channel and our justice system often in upheaval, it seems to be more relevant than ever. And the Arundel Barn Playhouse's production of CHICAGO proves just why it has endured.

Performances of THE PAJAMA GAME will begin Friday, January 27th on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre with the official opening set for Thursday, March 2nd. The limited engagement is scheduled to run 20 weeks through June 18th, 2006.
