A Woman of No Importance

Stage West will present THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, a classic comedy by Oscar Wilde, showcasing witty dialogue and satirical humor.

SBCC Theatre Arts Department will present a student showcase production of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST by Oscar Wilde, Directed by Katie Laris, November 9-19, 2022 in the Jurkowitz Theatre.  

With its new production of A Woman of No Importance, Walnut Street Theatre hit its stride in producing classic works with a creative twist. 

The Walnut Street Theatre's Mainstage production of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE opened last night at the Walnut Street Theatre. Directed by Producing Artistic Director Bernard Havard, A Woman of No Importance holds an unfiltered mirror up to the bourgeois life of Victorian England, while extolling the virtues of robust—and refreshing—American values.

Walnut Street Theatre (WST) continues its 211th season with Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE. Directed by Walnut Producing Artistic Director Bernard Havard, the production begins previews on January 14, opens January 22, and continues through March 1 on the Walnut's Mainstage.

After the broad success of his year-long Oscar Wilde Season, Classic Spring's Dominic Dromgoole has brought the first play in that series, A Woman Of No Importance, on a national tour that kicks off Richmond Theatre's new season this week.

Celebrating Pride Month, Shakespeare Theatre Company will close out its 2018-2019 ReDiscovery Series on Monday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Lansburgh Theatre with a freestaged reading of Mae West's closet melodrama The Drag (1927).

Dominic Dromgoole's new company Classic Spring kicks off its year-long celebration of Oscar Wilde with lesser-known 1893 work A Woman of No Importance. A starry cast, led by the incandescent Eve Best, makes a strong case for the play, though Dromgoole's reclaiming of Wilde in the proscenium arch theatre space for which he originally wrote is more of a mixed affair.

Ever the consummate commentator of society and gender, Oscar Wilde has never been afraid of controversy or potentially offending member of both sexes. Never has this been more evident than in his 1893 A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE, which is receiving a glamorous new production at the Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake.
