Coinciding with the cinema release of filmmaker Clio Barnard's award-winning The Arbor, Artangel Interaction commission AS IT GOES celebrates the unique power of one of the UK's most distinctive and sorely missed playwrights. For four nights only, this series of readings, performed at the Young Vic, remembers Andrea Dunbar's inimitable voice, at once controversial and hilarious, brutally honest and deeply personal. Each reading will be accompanied by one of four new short plays inspired by Andrea's work by teenagers from east London, followed by the screening of scenes from The Arbor. The young playwrights will be mentored by Lorne Campbell (Greyscale, Traverse), Gbolahan Obisesan (Royal Court, National Theatre, Young Vic), Jo Carter (Artistic Director, Immediate Theatre) and Rob Watt (Soho Theatre, Stratford Circus, Royal Court). On the final day of readings a panel discussion will take place with Max Stafford Clark, Clio Barnard, Jo Carter and actors from The Arbor, with a reading of Robin Soans' play, A State Affair (2000) which looked at life on a Bradford estate.

SBCC Theatre Arts Department will begin the fall with an intriguing drama by Sophie Treadwell, MACHINAL. It will run October 20-November 6, 2010 in the intimate Interim Theatre on SBCC's West Campus.

Chamber Music Palisades (CMP), the Westside music series celebrated for its stellar artistic line up and juxtaposing works old and new, launches the 2010-11 season, its 14th, with the world premiere of Peter Golub's Quintet for Oboe, String Trio and Piano, dual birthday tributes to Robert Schumann and Samuel Barber, and Argentine composer Alberto GInastera's Impressiones de la Puna for Flute and Strings on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 8 p.m., at St. Matthews Parish in Pacific Palisades.

Tisa Chang, Artistic Producing Director announces that Pan Asian Repertory Theatre will launch their 34th season with readings of three new plays by women playwrights representing voices from Vietnam, Chinese America and Hawaii: WE ARE (Oct 16 at 7:00pm) by Nguyen thi Minh Ngoc; FALLING LEAVES (Nov 12 at 7:00pm and 13 at 3:00pm) by Adeline Yen Mah; and AIR AND ANGELS (Dec 2 and 3 at 7:00pm) by Anne Noelani Miyamoto. All readings are open to the public with a suggested $10 donation, and are held at ART/New York spaces, 520 8th Ave, 3rd Floor. Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the BAM 2011 Spring Season, which runs from Jan 7 through Jun 11, 2011. Marin Theatre Company announces the world premiere of 9 Circles, the newest play by Equivocation playwright Bill Cain. 9 Circles is the riveting story of a young American soldier on trial for his life. San Francisco favorite Kent Nicholson returns to the Bay Area to direct 9 Circles in MTC's intimate 99-seat Lieberman Theatre. 9 Circles runs October 14 through November 7, 2010. Opening night is October 19.

As Arena Stage begins a new life in its renovated home at the Mead Center for American Theater in Southwest D.C., it opens its inaugural season with a classic American musical that similarly embraces life on a new frontier. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! is the first production at the Mead Center and features an all-star cast under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! runs October 22-December 26, 2010 in the Fichandler Stage.

In September, DC area theatres are filled with almost a dozen musical productions opening -- classics, family shows, and many wonderful plays being performed on our over 200 theatre venues. The humidity is finally melting away, and it's a perfect time to welcome the cooler weather and the colors of the Fall by making a trip to the Nation's Capital and catching a show or two or three. There are family shows with canines and rabbits, a Labor Day weekend theatre festival that's FREE, a new jazz musical with some of the area's most talented singers, and bugs and ants that swing on trapezes. Mr. Ripley is finally coming to town, while I'm hoping that all will be well at Shakespeare Theatre. Someone is trying to deal with a very troubling inch, a Bar-Mitzvah boy has to deal with his crazy family, spelling champions battle it out, and a beagle pilot takes flight. There's so much to choose from, so read on and see what's playing in September in this monumental town. Happy New Year to all my fellow Jewish lovers of the theatre!

Hollywood's Blank Theatre Company (Daniel Henning, Founding Artistic Director, Noah Wyle, Artistic Producer) has announced its 20th Anniversary Season, which will feature plays by Edmund White, David Sedaris, and Marc Blitzstein, plus 12 new plays by inspired teenagers.

October 2010 will mark the beginning of St. Louis Actors' Studio's fourth season, themed Angels and Demons.
