This month the latest edition of the winners' anthology hit the Publisher's Weekly Sci Fi Bestseller list. With a panel of judges including authors whose distinguished careers span the entire history of modern science fiction and fantasy (from the masters of the 'Golden Age' in 1930's and 1940's to the present), the contest was created in 1983 by NYT Bestselling author L. Ron Hubbard, as a means to discover and nurture new talent in speculative fiction. With no entry fee, it offers one of the largest cash prizes for short story speculative fiction, up to $5,000. When compared to SUNSET BOULEVARD, which follows the same classic film-to-stage pedigree as SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and tackles the same dilemma of making the transition from silent films to talkies in the 1920s - albeit of psychological melodrama in genre compared to the latter's rollicking parody - SUNSET BOULEVARD had big stars of stage and screen who headlined West End and Broadway. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN did not delve into such stunt casting from the onset - unless you consider Tommy Steele, who originated the role of Don Lockwood in the West End, as big as Elvis Presley or Gene Kelly, the silver screen's original Lockwood.

Lincoln Center Out of Doors one of the country's longest-running, free, summer outdoor festivals opens its 45th season on July 22, 2015. A range of concerts, dance performances, family events, related film screenings, talks, and an exhibition will be presented across three weeks, from July 22 - August 9.

On June 15, 1975 at Vogel Hall in the (then) Performing Arts Center in downtown Milwaukee a new theatre company took to the stage to offer its first performance and Milwaukee Chamber Theatre was born.
