Bette Midler has won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for HELLO, DOLLY!.

The Tony Award-nominated comedy, "Lettice and Lovage," will open Westport Country Playhouse's 87th Season, written by Peter Shaffer, author of "Amadeus," and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director.  The play runs from May 30 through June 17. 

San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, this October, the Company will once again participate in World Ballet Day LIVE, a day-long streaming event (details to be announced).

For more than five decades, since the company was founded by Ramiro Guerra in 1959, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba's (DCC) hybrid and hothouse dance blend of African-Caribbean rhythms, jazzy American modernism and influences from classical European ballet has been evoking the sensual heart of the Cuban spirit through vigorous and highly physical contemporary dance.

Ars Nova and WP Theater are pleased to present the world premiere of Sundown, Yellow Moon (February 28-April 1), a nighttime play, with songs, by Rachel Bonds, directed by Anne Kauffman (OBIE and Drama Desk Award winner), with songs by the indie-folk duo The Bengsons (Hundred Days) and additional lyrics by Bonds.

Teatro Paraguas will present Rio del Corazon: The Magic of Tony Mares, a tribute to the late  Ernesto Antonio "Tony" Mares of Albuquerque.  The tribute will include a performance of his play Lola's Last Dance, as well as  dramatic readings of poems selected from his books.

Rehearsals may not start until January, but Bette Midler is already hard at work preparing for her return to Broadway. 'I'm excited, I'm unnerved, I'm utterly game. I love the character, I know the score, I'm learning the dances,' the icon told NBC Today on Sunday morning.

The award show season officially kicked off with The Game Awards 2016.  Today, Dance Consortium, a group of 17 large scale venues located across the UK, announces full details of its 40th tour, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba's UK Tour 2017. Last seen in the UK in 2012, Cuba's vibrant flagship contemporary dance company will present an exciting programme choreographed by some of today's most sought-after choreographic names. The 2017 UK tour opens at Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham on 14 February and concludes at Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury on 18 March.

Lipuma, announces a one-week extension to Company, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The production is directed by William Brown. Company features original orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, Orchestral Reductions by Ian Weinberger, music direction by Tom Vendafreddo and choreography by Brock Clawson. The show, originally slated to run through July 31, 2016, will add an additional week, through August 7, in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.
