After receiving more than 3,000 nominations once BroadwayWorld.com announced it's first-ever New York Cabaret Awards in early October, BWW is now pleased to announce it's final nominations ballot in 20 categories. Now it's time for all you cabaret performers and fans to vote for the best singers, musicians and shows of the year. Voting will continue until December 31 and winners will be announced in early January.

Theater for the New City was originally scheduled to present the premiere run of 'Skybox' November 8 to December 2 in its Cino Theater. Due to production delays caused by Hurricane Sandy, the show will now open November 15 (one week later) and run through December 2. Critics are invited on or after November 15.

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE/LA announces a new opening date for the world premiere of DOESN'T ANYONE KNOW WHAT A PANCREAS IS?, written by Carole Real and directed by Jenny O'Hara. DOESN'T ANYONE KNOW WHAT A PANCREAS IS? will now preview on Tuesday, November 13 and will open on Wednesday November 14 at Atwater Village Theatre, 3269 Casitas Ave. in Los Angeles, 90039. THE FISHERMAN'S WIFE will be extending and will now run through Thursday, December 13.

If 'Adam's Rib' and 'Moneyball' mated and begat a play, it might be 'Skybox,' a comedy of class warfare and the battle of the sexes that is set in the luxury box of a major league baseball park. The play, written by Walt Stepp and directed by Lissa Moira, is the successor to their collaboration on 'Siren's Heart: Norma Jean and Marilyn in Purgatory,' a play by Stepp which started at Theater for the New City and is now running Off-Broadway at the Actors Temple Theatre. Theater for the New City will present 'Skybox' November 8 to December 2 in its Cino Theater.

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE/LA is introducing a new performance space: "The Speakeasy." Located at their Atwater Village Theatre home, "The Speakeasy" will open with two world premiere comedies about relationships: the rolling world premiere of THE FISHERMAN'S WIFE, written by Steve Yockey and directed by Gates McFadden, which was originally produced in 2012 by Impact Theatre in Berkeley with EST/LA and the world premiere of DOESN'T ANYONE KNOW WHAT A PANCREAS IS?, written by Carole Real and directed by Jenny O'Hara. Keegan Theatre's producing artistic director Mark A. Rhea discusses the Washington, D.C.-based theatre company. The Keegan opens Tracy Letts' award-winning dark comedy AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY August 3, which runs through September 2, 2012 at the Church Street Theatre.

Today we are talking to a stand-up comedienne celebrated for her caustic wit, erudite political humor and illuminating social observations who has also made a name for herself over the last two decades as an actress by appearing in over 100 feature films and television shows, including recurring roles on the TV series SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, THE BEN STILLER SHOW, THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW and 24, as well as her film resume, ranging from roles in ROMY & MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION to WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER to REALITY BITES, COP LAND, THE CABLE GUY, NOW AND THEN and many more - the one and only Janeane Garofalo. But before we move on to the new season and what's opening in September, let's look back at my personal favorite musicals, plays, and performances in both musicals and plays in the DC area - from August 2010 to August 2011.
