GK Arts Center is proud to host Gelsey Kirkland Ballet's perennial holiday classic, The Nutcracker. This is the fourth year this production of The Nutcracker will be performed over the course of a special two-week engagement, running December 8-18 at the GK Arts Center (29 Jay Street, formerly St. Ann's Warehouse in Dumbo, Brooklyn, N.Y.). The National Youth Ballet of Great Britain is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Artistic Director, Mikah Smillie. Following the passing of the company's Founding Director Jill Tookey in March this year, Mikah was appointed Artistic Director in Residence and led the 2016 Season including a sell-out Memorial Gala performance at Sadler's Wells in September. Mikah now joins National Youth Ballet on a permanent basis and will lead the company into its 30th Anniversary Year in 2017.

Celebrating its 15th Anniversary season, the Kennedy Center's own The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, returns to the Eisenhower Theater stage for four performances, October 21-23, with an expansive all-Balanchine program. Including two large-scale company premieres, one of which is a revival of the rarely performed work Gounod Symphony and the patriotic Stars and Stripes, the program also features the return of an audience favorite, Danses Concertantes. All performances will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

The Suzanne Farrell Ballet performed a staging-in-process showing of the second movement of the rarely seen George Balanchine ballet, Gounod Symphony, on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the NYU Skirball Center. Pacific Northwest Ballet Artistic Director Peter Boal and corps de ballet dancer Jessika Anspach have announced that Ms. Anspach will retire at the end of PNB's 2015-2016 season. A true “PNB baby,” Ms. Anspach literally grew up dancing at PNB over 26 years, first in classes at PNB School and then with the Company. She took her first PNB School Creative Movement dance class at the age of five in 1990, joined the company as an apprentice in 2004 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 2005.

Washington State native Trisha Brown is considered the most widely acclaimed choreographer of the postmodern era. For over 50 years, she pushed the limits of choreographic movement, changing modern dance forever. At 79, Trisha Brown has choreographed her last dances. In celebration of her life's work, Trisha Brown Dance Company returns to the choreographer's home state to perform the final performances of her works for the proscenium stage as part of a retrospective presented by University of Washington's World Series at Meany Hall.
