The Public Theater has announced the exciting international line-up for the 13th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL, running January 4-15, 2017.

Anthony Kearns, one of the finest tenor voices today, returns to Chicago for a one-day concert at the Irish American Heritage Center (IAHC) in Chicago, IL on Sunday, November 13, 2016. He will be joined by accompanist David George, along with guest fiddle player, Chicago's Devin Shepherd. Kearns is an original member of the PBS sensation, The Irish Tenors, and he also enjoys a robust international solo career.

The deceptively simple lyrics and melodies of David Lang's Memorial Ground, sung by a massed chorus of voices young and old at the East Neuk Festival on 2 July this year, made for a powerfully moving musical premiere to mark the beginning of the Battle of the Somme a century ago. To commemorate the end of that devastating 21-week battle, a specially revised version of Memorial Ground is performed at a free ticketed event in London at the National Portrait Gallery in November as part of 14-18 NOW, the UK's arts programme for the First World War centenary.

Sean Holmes has been Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith since 2009. Memorable productions during his bold and varied tenure include Three Kingdoms, Saved, Bugsy Malone, Ghost Stories, the Secret Theatre programme, and the Olivier Award-winning Blasted. Next up is a revival of Mark Ravenhill's provocative Shopping and F***ing.

A tribe ~ a people, a culture ~ is defined by its history. If that history is wrought by famine and oppression, the experience will show in its art. Such is the case of the Irish, whose spirit, passion for freedom, and fortitude are exhilaratingly showcased in CELTIC NIGHTS: SPIRIT OF FREEDOM. The national tour of this show arrived in Scottsdale with a triumphant display of sight and sound, song and dance, woe and joy.

A new production of Bizet's LES PÊCHEURS DE PERLES (The Pearl Fishers), a rarity by the composer of Carmen that has not been seen at the Met in nearly a century, opens in a new production this New Year's Eve.

The 8th Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition was launched by the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys T.D. at the Royal Irish Academy of Music today. Over the past 21 years the competition, which is now run in association with Wexford Festival Opera, is established as an Irish musical event of international standing that offers a global stage for the encouragement and development of Irish and international vocal talent.
