Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons will hold its annual Spring Gala on Monday evening, May 9 at the event space 583 Park Avenue.

DISGRACED and VIOLET heat up the winter with power and grace as the Huntington Theatre Company and SpeakEasy Stage enter the second half of their 2015-2016 seasons with winners.

While Violet may appear to be in new musical in some theatergoers' eyes, the show actually has been around for a couple decades. Making its start Off-Broadway in 1997, Violet was considered a revival for its 2014 Broadway run starring Sutton Foster. Adapted from Doris Betts' story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim,' the musical has a book and lyrics by Brian Crawley with music by Jeanine Tesori (whose work can currently be heard on Broadway in Fun Home).

The Royal Court has worked with a group of 12 writers from Syria and Lebanon over the last two years with workshops supported by the British Council in Broumana and Beirut. These workshops have been led by playwrights David Greig, Sam Holcroft and Royal Court International Director Elyse Dodgson. Excerpts from all of the plays were presented at Al Madina Theatre in Beirut in May 2015 directed by Richard Twyman.

Broadway Entertainment Group FZ LLC and NETworks Presentations LLC are pleased to announce their first ever, global tour of the English language production of SHREK THE MUSICAL with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori.  The production begins its journey in Istanbul, Turkey on the 22nd January, 2016 and will tour to diverse markets including Europe, the Middle East and Asia to cities including; Abu Dhabi, Jakarta and Singapore to name a few.

BACHARACH REIMAGINED has been refashioned into CLOSE TO YOU: BACHARACH REIMAGINED, set to run at the Criterion Theatre beginning October 3, 2015. The Daily Mail writes that the show, directed by Oliver Award-winner Steven Hoggett, will once again star Kyle Riabko.

The Pennington Players are bringing Violet, a musical story about the growth and enlightenment of a young woman scarred by a childhood accident, to the stage of Kelsey Theatre. Performances are November 6, 7, 13, 14 at 8:00 pm and November 8 & 15 at 2:00 pm.   Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.  A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on November 6th.
