Mint Theater (Jonathan Bank, Producing Artistic Director) today announced the cast for a rare reading of Ferenc Molnar's Liliom which will be presented for one night only, onMonday, June 11 at 7pm at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).  Liliom was turned into the musical Carousel by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II which is now enjoying a successful revival on Broadway.

This December, the acclaimed Off-Broadway Axis Theatre Company will present the 15th annual production of its beloved family holiday show, Seven in One Blow, or the Brave Little Kid. Adapted from the classic fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm, this festive, interactive winter play is written and directed by Axis Artistic Director Randy Sharp (Edgar Oliver's Attorney Street, In the Park and East 10th Street). Though the poignant tale was created for kids, the Axis production-which teases out some of the many plausible subtexts-resonates equally well for adults.

The Globe has announced that Emma Rice will be stepping down as Artistic Director in April 2018, two years after her tenure began. In a statement, CEO Neil Constable said: 'Emma's mould-breaking work has brought our theatre new and diverse audiences, won huge creative and critical acclaim, and achieved exceptionally strong box office returns. In breaking the mould, this latest season has generated productive debate concerning the purpose and theatrical practice of the Globe, in relation to the use of sound and lighting technology within our theatre spaces. Following much deliberation and discussion, the Globe Board has concluded that from April 2018, the theatre programming should be structured around 'shared light' productions without designed sound and light rigging, which characterised a large body of The Globe's work prior to Emma's appointment. 

Maury Yeston, the composer and lyricist best-known for Nine and Titanic, visited the West End a few months before the West End opening of his new musical, Death Takes a Holiday. Based on a film (which was based on a play) this story tells of how Death changed his perspective. He used to not quite understand why everyone he came to collect was quite so aggrieved to die, until he met a particular woman who allowed him to realise quite what makes life worth clinging to. The side effect of Death's occupation being, though, that he can't collect anyone else while he's so distracted - Death the person and death the concept take a break!  Maury was kind enough to discuss his musical background, some of his better-known works and his latest venture for the stage.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. The Grammy Award-winning bebop legend is the subject of Charlie Parker's YARDBIRD, the first world premiere in almost four decades for Opera Philadelphia, recognized by Opera News as “one of the leading instigators of new work in the country.” The new chamber opera was created for American tenor Lawrence Brownlee, a nominee for the 2015 International Opera Male Singer of the Year Award, by composer Daniel Schnyder, whose “thrilling classical-tinged jazz blend…constantly pushes the envelope” (Jazz Times), to a libretto by award-winning poet and playwright Bridgette Wimberly. Directed by Ron Daniels under the leadership of Music Director Corrado Rovaris, Charlie Parker's YARDBIRD premieres in Opera Philadelphia's Aurora Series for Chamber Opera, crowning the company's 40th Anniversary Season with a five-performance run in the Kimmel Center's intimate Perelman Theater (June 5–14). Atlanta's nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre and Jennings Hertz Artistic Director Susan V. Booth are pleased to announce the 2015/16 Season for the Alliance Stage, Hertz Stage, Theatre for Youth and Families, and Theatre for the Very Young series. In JACK LEMMON RETURNS, the legendary actor's son Chris takes the audience through highlights of his father's career. There is, of course, lots of laughter but also poignant moments about the elder Lemmon's total preoccupation with his career, to the detriment of his satellite family's relationship with him.

Mint Theater today announced the cast for their next production, Fashions For Men by Ferenc Molnar: Mark Bedard, Joe Delafield, Jeremy Lawrence, Rachel Napoleon, Annie Purcell, Kurt Rhoads, Michael Schantz, Maren Searle, John Seidman, Jill Tanner, John Tufts, and Gabra Zackman. Performances began February 3rd and continue through March 29th. Opening Night is Sunday March 1st (7pm) at Mint's home (311 West 43rd Street).
