After six consecutive years, Disney's Beauty and the Beast has relinquished its place as the top musical in the annual survey of most-produced titles in United States high school theatres, unseated during the 2013-14 season by another adaptation of an animated anti-hero: Shrek the Musical. Returning to the list, and rounding out the top three, is Godspell, which has seen its popularity rise after a recent Broadway revival and subsequent national tour.

A new musical created by a team of Australian brothers, Paul and Michael Hodge, CLINTON will makes its US debut at the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The new musical will be directed by Adam Arian with musical direction by James Dobinson and choreography by Emily McNamara, it will begin performances July 18 through July 25 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street). James Rebhorn passed away on Friday, March 21, at the age of 65. Rebhorn is most known for his role in the Showtime drama Homeland. His agent, Dianne Busch, told The Hollywood Reporter, "He died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992. He fought it all this time. He died Friday afternoon at his home in New Jersey, where he had been receiving hospice care for a week and a half."

The Utah Shakespeare Festival recently announced the casting of the first nine actors for the 2014 season. All are familiar faces, having appeared at the Festival in the past. Currently in the midst of its critically acclaimed second full season, fast-rising Titan Theatre Company has just been named a 2014 recipient of the Queen Arts Fund Grant, under the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. The announcement was made on Wednesday January 29, 2014. The grant has been designated towards organizational support for Titan Theatre's upcoming production of King Lear starring Broadway veteran Terry Layman (Broadway's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Twelve Angry Men) in the title role. The production will April 25 - May 11 at the Queens Theatre. Center Stage announces this week casting for the upcoming production of William Shakespeare's beloved romantic adventure, Twelfth Night. Under the direction of Center Stage Associate Artistic Director Gavin Witt, the production begins rehearsals this week, preview performances start March 5, and the show runs through April 6.
