The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of THE METROMANIACS by supremely clever playwright David Ives (All in the Timing, Time Flies). The Irish Repertory Theatre will honor the life and legacy of the great Irish playwright Brian Friel (January 9, 1929 - October 2, 2015) with a memorial celebration to be held on Monday, December 7th, 2015 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, 261 West 47th Street, New York City. Doors will open at 3:30 PM and the celebration will begin at 4:00 PM. This event is open to the public but attendees must RSVP to friel@irishrep.org and indicate number of attendees.

The Old Globe's GLOBE FOR ALL returns to bring free professional Shakespeare directly to diverse, multigenerational audiences in underserved communities around San Diego County. This second year of GLOBE FOR ALL follows a highly successful inaugural production in 2014. One of the Bard's most charming comedies, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, will be directed by renowned Shakespearean Rob Melrose, Artistic Director of San Francisco's Cutting Ball Theater, who makes his Globe debut. He directs a cast of local professional actors, including recent graduates of the Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program.

The full cast is announced today for The Mother, transferring to the Tricycle Theatre from Ustinov Studio in Bath. Gina McKee, Richard Clothier and William Posthelwaite reprise their original roles and are joined by new cast member Frances McNamee. The production opens on 26 January, with previews from 21 January, and runs until 5 March.

As a special event this fall, the Hill Country Community Theatre will host actor Lisa Dalton as she presents a new translation of the Anton Chekhov short story The Darling. This unique one-person show, directed by Victor S. Tkachenko, has been performed in cities around the country, including Los Angeles, Fort Worth, and in New York as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC).

Cutting Ball Theater opens its 17th season with LIFE IS A DREAM by Pedro Calderon de la Barca. Following the sold-out success of last season's Antigone, Acting Artistic Director Paige Rogers (Tontlawald, Mud) helms this Calderon classic, in a new translation from resident playwright Andrew Saito, commissioned by Cutting Ball. Featuring David Sinaiko, Asher Sinaiko, Grace Ng, Sango Tajima, Matthew Hannon, Michael Wayne Turner III, Peter Warden, and Barry Despenza, LIFE IS A DREAM plays October 2 through November 1 (press opening: October 8) at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street) in San Francisco.
