Inspired by the American cartoon a?oeTom and Jerry,a?? French Twist uses contemporary movement set to five musical selections by the late French composer Hugues Le Bars. Ma Cong's French Twist will be offered beginning Wednesday, June 10, 2020, accompanied by a video introduction with current company dancer Mengjun Chen, who attended Beijing Dance Academy a generation after Cong. Sameer Patel, Associate Conductor of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, made his subscription series debut with Liszt's Les Preludes, the fifth symphony of Sibelius, and the world premiere of Adam Schoenberg's violin concerto Orchard in Fog. Les Preludes is one of 13 tone poems written by Liszt. He invented the single-movement form as a way to evoke specific scenes or moods. Liszt sites a poem by Alphonse de Lamartine in the score, but it appears it wasn't his original inspiration since Les Preludes is an adaptation of an overture written for an abandoned larger work based on a different text.

The GRAMMY Museum® and Warner Bros. have teamed up to present 'The Get Animated Invasion,' an interactive exhibit that celebrates the music that generations have come to know and love from Warner Bros. iconic animation shorts and films. Warner Bros. has a long history of invading pop culture though music, from popularizing classical compositions to creating mainstream hits that stand the test of time; the latest of which is the animated feature Smallfoot, featuring an all-star voice cast and original music including a new song from Niall Horan. The pop-up exhibit will take over the GRAMMY Museum's second floor, Aug. 19–Sept. 9, 2018, making this Get Animated's second pop-up exhibit following their inaugural invasion in New York last fall.
