The Flat Rock Playhouse 2017 season continues with the stage play turned cult-classic film, Amadeus. This larger-than-life production stars Nat Zegree (Jerry Lee Lewis of last year's hit Million Dollar Quartet) as one of the original bad boys of popular music, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Amadeus runs September 15th through the 30th at the Clyde and Nina Allen Mainstage in the Village of Flat Rock, NC.

The Flat Rock Playhouse and Studio 52 Family Series continues with the classic cartoon turned family musical, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.  Happiness is…this charming musical featuring the beloved Charles M. Citadel Theatre's will open its 2017-18 season with a revival of Moss Hart's 1948 comedy set behind the scenes of a Broadway-bound play during its Boston tryout.

A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) announces its 2017-2018 Season. From September 2017 through May 2018, the Chamber Orchestra will perform six programs as part of its subscription series. All six concert pairs will be performed in the Kimmel Center's intimate Perelman Theater.

The Flat Rock Playhouse has been awarded a grant of $30,000 by the Community Foundation of Henderson County.

June 25th, 2017 marked New York City's 47th Annual Pride parade. Thousands of New Yorkers took to the streets to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community this year. A sea of rainbow, glitter, feathers, and every combination of the three filled the street. The historic march was filled with members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies alike. Stretching from 36th street and 5th avenue all the way down past the historic Stonewall Inn to Christopher street, people sang, danced, and watched as the parade passed by.

Bader, Investigative Journalist for Truthout, a 501(c)3 non-profit working actively against Social Injustice).  Born from this idea and the personal experiences of the artists who work at Flat Rock Playhouse, Be a #SHERO for the Arts, is an effort by the Playhouse, in partnership with United Way's Women United,  Pardee Hospital's Women Helping Women & BREASTCANCER.org , to ultimately, empower women in the Arts, in their own lives, and in their communities.

Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid, adapted from Disney's stunning Broadway production and the Academy Award winning motion picture. Flat Rock Playhouse continues its Studio 52 Family Series with Disney's The Little Mermaid, running June 29th through July 23rd at the Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown on Main Street in Hendersonville.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra named percussionist Joshua Jones as its seventh EQT Orchestra Training Program for African American Musicians (OTPAAM) Fellow. He begins his two-year fellowship in September.
