Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) presents Smokey Joe's Cafe, playing tonight, July 14, through July 19 for TUTS' 48th consecutive year of offering FREE musical theatre at Miller Outdoor Theatre.

Cockpit in Court continues its 2015 season with an old-fashioned musical…Thoroughly Modern Millie.  The roaring twenties set the tone for a time when women wanted to become "moderns", in a funny love story full of clever music and spectacular dancing.  The show runs from July 17th to August 2nd.  Individual tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for senior adults and $14 for children 12 and under.

Broadway Rose's THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is a big, flashy Broadway musical with all of the bells and whistles.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the line up of new musicals for their 27th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick area's only year-round producing theatre, has announced a shake up to its summer schedule of shows.  The current production of the song and dance musical classic, West Side Story, which opened June 12th and was scheduled to run through the end of August, will now play its final performance on Saturday, August 8th.  The earlier closing makes way for the 10th Anniversary special presentation of A Rock-n-Roll Golden Oldies Mystery, which was the show that helped launch Way Off Broadway's interactive murder mystery series, Marquee Mysteries.  So popular was the show, that eleven more interactive mysteries have appeared at Way Off Broadway since, while even more are now produced outside of the theatre, including regularly on the Walkersville Southern Railroad.

Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the July 1st opening of Jeffrey Hatcher's area premiere adaptation of Wait Until Dark, written by Frederick Knott at Saint Michael's Playhouse (tonight, July 1 - 11). Directed by Sarah Carleton the cast features Abby Lee as Susan, John D. Alexander as Roat, Christian Kohn as Mike, Bill Carmichael as Carlino, David Rossetti as Sam, and introducing Jillian Kenny as Gloria.

On Monday June 22, 2015 Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony nominee Kerry Butler. Currently starring as Hillary Clinton in CLINTON THE MUSICAL at New World Stages, Butler made her Broadway debut in BLOOD BROTHERS before replacing as Belle in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

Today in 2004, Thoroughly Modern Millie closed at the Marquis Theatre, where it ran for 903 performances. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics by Dick Scanlan, and a book by Richard Morris and Scanlan. Based on the 1967 film of the same name, it tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. The production subsequently won six 2002 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical for Sutton Foster.

This new production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, presented by SDWC Productions, marks the show's triumphant return to London 12 years after it was first seen at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Broadway Rose Theatre Company continues its 2015 Season of Bright Beginnings with a tap dancing musical comedy being presented at the Deb Fennell Auditorium.

Enjoy Shakespeare under the stars at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Outdoor Stage production of Love's Labour's Lost. The enormously popular summer venue, located on the campus of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township, will host the show beginning on June 17th and continuing through July 26th.

High school students from across Washington State packedThe 5th Avenue Theatre tonight for The 13th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater, a high school version of the Tony Awards, proudly sponsored by Wells Fargo with additional support from Alaska Airlines. The house was packed with over 2,000 teenagers, many in costumes representing their schools' musical theater productions, who cheered for their peers as they performed musical excerpts and accepted awards honoring top student achievements in musical theater. The acclaimed event, directed this year by Kat Ramsburg, handed out awards in 21 categories ranging from Outstanding Overall Musical Production to Outstanding Lobby Display.

The 69th Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 7th at 8/9c hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long award season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize.

The Board of Directors of the Memphis Development Foundation (MDF), which operates the historic Orpheum Theatre, will name the Foundation's newest capital addition the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education in honor of President and CEO Pat Halloran. Halloran will have served the Orpheum Theatre for 35 years at the time of his retirement at the end of 2015. The Centre, a $14.5 million addition to the Orpheum campus, has long been a passion project of Halloran's.
