Arts Alliance Illinois, under the leadership of Executive Director Claire Rice and Board Chair Brooke Flanagan, Director of Institutional Advancement at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, welcome artistic, business, creative, and philanthropic leaders from across Illinois to the organization's Fifth Annual Benefit Luncheon on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Palmer House Hilton, located at 17 East Monroe Street in Chicago. Guest check-in and a reception begin at 11:15am, with the seated luncheon following promptly at noon.

The Old Globe today announced its 2017-2018 Season, which will kick off with the world premiere musical Benny & Joon, with book by Kirsten Guenther, music by Nolan Gasser, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein.

This summer, Goodman Theatre and the Center for Performance and Civic Practice (CPCP) present four one-day capacity building workshops focused on creative change tactics for members of Chicago's communities. These sessions are part of NOURISH-a multi-year initiative between the Goodman and CPCP to develop a greater capacity for arts-based community-led transformation-led by Walter Director of Education and Engagement Willa J. Taylor (Goodman Theatre) and Michael Rohd (Founding Artist/Director of CPCP/Sojourn Theatre).

For two glittering weekends at the end of May, the world turns its attention to the movie event of the year: TheCaan Film Festival at Museum of the Moving Image. In celebration of the Bronx-born, Sunnyside-raised, and Sanford Meisner-instructed actor, the film series revisits twelve of James Caan's greatest performances, from May 19 through 28, with nearly all films presented in 35mm. The films feature performances for such great directors as Francis Ford Coppola, Howard Hawks, Michael Mann, Sam Peckinpah, Mark Rydell, Norman Jewison, Wes Anderson, and James Gray.

Asheville Creative Arts (ACA), Asheville's professional children's theatre and Hood Huggers International, which offers sustainable strategies for building support pillars for resilient historically African American neighborhoods, announce they will be co-hosting a second conversation with NC Stage Company, and a list-in-formation of other participating local theatres and artists, around the values and action items outlined by The Ghostlight Project, held at Hood Hugger's Burton Street Community Peace Garden (47 Bryant Street), on Sunday May 7, from 3-4pm, rain or shine. MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), closes its 75th anniversary season with Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). On Friday, April  28, 2017 at 7:30 pm Concerts at Saint Thomas Presents The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir. As one of Europe's leading choirs, this fine choir has delighted listeners since 1924 with its interpretation of the works of major composers of the renaissance and baroque eras, as well as 20th century choral music for boys' and men's voices. Since 1959, the choir has been resident at Copenhagen Cathedral and as part of its duties performs at state occasions and during royal visits abroad.

 Music Director Donato Cabrera leads the California Symphony in the world premiere of the newly-commissioned cello concerto, Tangle Eye, by its current Young American Composer-in-Residence, Dan Visconti, with soloist Inbal Segev on Sunday, May 7 at 4 pm at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The Israeli-American cellist, now based in New York, is a champion of contemporary music, and performs as a soloist with a Bay Area orchestra for the first time in the Orchestra's May 7 season finale. This is Visconti's final work as a Young American Composer-in-Residence with the Orchestra; his residency ends this year. The California Symphony also performs Bruckner's Symphony No. 6 for the first time in its 30-year history, and the program opens with Beethoven's Coriolan Overture.

Gustavo Dudamel, music and artistic director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and a luminary in the classical music world, will step in to lead the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's BNY Mellon Grand Classics concerts on April 7 & 9 at Heinz Hall.
