The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced the full casting for the world premiere of Bud, Not Buddy, a new play by Obie Award winner Kirsten Greenidge, adapted from Christopher Paul Curtis's acclaimed Newbury Medal winning novel, with music by world-renowned jazz artist and composer Terence Blanchard.

Movie fans get ready… it's that time of the year again, and The Granada Theatre's popular Summer Film Series is back! The Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA) is pleased to present their most exciting lineup of films yet, encompassing a wide range of genres that all guests are guaranteed to enjoy! This summer, The Granada Theatre will screen films in three series: "Summer Classic Movie Series," "Comedy Tonight: The Films of Mel Brooks," as well as a returning favorite, the "Reel Cool Summer Series!". Around the World in 80 Days will kick off the summer series on May 22, followed by cult classic, Blazing Saddles, on May 24, and Shrek on May 25. The University of Washington School of Drama's historic 75th anniversary continues to celebrate the Seattle theatre community's rich history. With their Seattle Theatres Lost and Founded Series, produced in partnership with the UW World Series and One Coast Collaboration, the School of Drama pays tribute to inspiring companies no longer up and running, including: Alice B. Theatre, Bathhouse Theatre, Empty Space Theatre, Northwest Asian American Theatre, and the Seattle Group Theatre.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. The Festival's focus is music's capacity to illuminate the many dimensions of our interior lives, with a particular emphasis this year on the power of the voice. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 23 performances, films, and events featuring seven premieres and debuts by artists and companies from more than a dozen countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the U.K., Mali, Estonia, Italy, Austria, Canada and the U.S. New to this edition of the Festival is White Light on Film, film screenings followed by discussions with their directors. Other Festival components include: a panel discussion focused on the subject of time, pre- and post-performance artist discussions, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges.

Warner Bros. announced today that the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz will be fully restored and converted into 3D, as a part of the studio's 90th Anniversary celebration next year. The film is currently being restored and will be released on Blu-ray 3D in either September or October of next year.
