The open expanse of the Skirball Cultural Center's courtyard looks peaceful nestled under the Santa Monica Mountains, but in summer, it bursts with the raucous and joyful noise of the best of the world's musicians: Hungarian gypsies bang milk cans and Kenyan bards wield handmade fiddles, while nonagenarian Yiddish-singing piano bar veterans and soulful Cajuns, hip salsa activists, and trans-cultural divas rub shoulders with dancing neighbors of all generations, backgrounds, and lifestyles.

Paula Brancati, Lauren Collins, Wendy Crewson, Cynthia Dale, Andrea Martin, and Louise Pitre are officially set to be the first cast of the Toronto production of LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE. As in the initial New York staging of the play by Nora and Delia Ephron, the production will feature a company of six that rotates in four-week cycles. The next cast will be announced in the next upcoming weeks.

Paula Brancati, Lauren Collins, Wendy Crewson, Cynthia Dale, Andrea Martin, and Louise Pitre are officially set to be the first cast of the Toronto production of LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE. As in the initial New York staging of the play by Nora and Delia Ephron, the production will feature a company of six that rotates in four-week cycles. Producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich announced today that Tony Award-winners James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will return to the New York stage this Fall to star opposite one another in the Broadway Premiere of Alfred Uhry‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Driving Miss Daisy. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy will begin performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Icon Entertainment International has begun to sell international distribution rights for Ralph Fiennes' 'Coriolanus,' according to a report by Deadline.com. First buyers include Spain and the BBC for UK television. The BBC is a co-producer of the picture, which stars Tony Award-winner Vanessa Redgrave along with Fiennes as Coriolanus, Gerard Butler as Afidius, and Emmy Award-winner Brian Cox as Menenius.

Variety reports today that Cate Blanchett's latest film, Robin Hood, directed by Ridley Scott and co-starring Russell Crowe, will be the opening film at the 2010, 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 12. The announcement does not come as a surprise to most, as the action-drama had been a top contender for the coveted placement for some time. The film will not play in competition at the festival, though it will mark its world premiere.

The filming of the Ralph Fiennes helmed 'Coriolanus' will begin next week in Serbia, according to a number of published reports. Vanessa Redgrave will star alongside Fiennes as Volumnia, Coriolanus' mother. The project has been in a standstill for quite some time until producers were finally gathered and a cast put together. Fiennes will direct as well as play the title role in the adaptation by John Logan.
