As millions throughout the nation celebrate Women's Equality Day today, Wale shares a new song entitled “BGM” in honor of women everywhere. 

The View UpStairs is an interpretive account of a true event: a notoriously unsolved arson fire that took place at a gay bar called the Up Stairs Lounge on the ragged edge of the famous French Quarter. Thirty-two lives were claimed in that bar on the night of June 24, 1973 when an arsonist lit a spark that destroyed a trailblazing establishment—a place apart that had transcended barriers of straight and gay, male and female, black and white. Through the fantasia of musical theatre, The View UpStairs will do the impossible. This musical will convey you alongside Wes, our modern-day “millennial influencer” protagonist, into the bar before it burned. There, you will see the Up Stairs Lounge in a way that historians like myself can only yearn for: joyous, full of the revelry of men and women crooning beside the piano and, as yet, untouched by its tragic fate. You will hear the laughter and feel the love that commingled before all the screams. The Women's Forum of New York will present the 9th Annual Elly Awards Luncheon benefiting The Education Fund of the Women's Forum on Monday, June 17th, at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The Academy announced today that its Board of Governors voted (Saturday, June 1) to present Honorary Awards to David Lynch, Wes Studi and Lina Wertmüller, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Geena Davis.  The four Oscar® statuettes will be presented at the Academy's 11th Annual Governors Awards on Sunday, October 27, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center®.

Over the course of each Broadway season, unexpected and unique storylines inevitably pop up. This morning, with the announcement of the 2019 Tony Award nominations, a number of new narratives have come to life.

Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2019-20 Season, which features a reconsideration of Randy Newman's musical Faust, in a concert format (May 9), an opening night recital with Itzhak Perlman accompanied by Rohan De Silva, piano (September 19), and a Beethoven 250th Birthday Celebration featuring six concerts beginning with Jonathan Biss, piano (October 15 & 16); other concerts include the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio (November 13), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Pinchas Zukerman, Principal Guest Conductor and Violin Soloist (January 24), Christian Tetzlaff, violin, with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (February 7), Academy of St Martin in the Fields with Joshua Bell (March 4) and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (March 25).

The Jeff Awards announced today via a special video, a total of 132 nominations in 22 categories for the 46th Annual Non-Equity Jeff Awards.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview has officially won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
