Sean Gormley & David Lansbury to Lead Reading of KING FISHERS CATCH FIRE at Irish Rep

The Irish Repertory Theatre, which 'encourages the development of works focusing on the Irish and Irish-American experience, and produces works of other cultures interpreted through the lens of an Irish sensibility,' continues the 10th season of the Irish Rep Reading Series.  A staged reading of Robin Glendinning's play King Fishers Catch Fire will be held on Friday, March 25, at 3pm EST at the DR2 Theater, (the Irish Repertory Theatre's temporary home during recent renovations).  The Irish Rep's literary manager, Kara Manning, will direct the reading. Tickets are FREE, and the event is open to the public.  An RSVP to 212-727-2737 is suggested.

The 51st Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards were presented at the Baxter Theatre Centre in Cape Town on Sunday night in a ceremony that highlighted the theme of 'new beginnings'. With the main event taking place in the newly refurbished Baxter Theatre, this year's winners all received a newly designed medallion. The evening also aimed to present to the audience of theatre-makers, performers, designers, critics and patrons a fusion of cultures.

BASS continues its innovative new music series In Context at the Tenri Cultural Center on SaturdayApril 2nd, 2016. This year's featured composer is Scott Wheeler, hailed by Fanfare as “one of the freshest American voices.” The program features Mr. Wheeler's work alongside those by colleagues and mentors (Virgil Thomson and Judith Weir) and favorite classics (Johannes Brahms and Robert Schumann). The program will include the world premiere of Ben Gunn. Soprano Elisabeth Marhsall, mezzo soprano Kate Maroney, tenor Brandon Snook, and baritone Steven Eddy join pianists Michael Brofman, Jocelyn Dueck, and Miori Sugiyama.

?In association with the Citizens Theatre, joint Artistic Director of Vox Motus Candice Edmunds presents a new adaptation of August Strindberg's Dance of Death in the Citizens Theatre's Circle Studio next month from 22 April. Adapted by Frances Poet, designed by Graham McLaren and starring Tam Dean Burn, Lucianne McEvoy  and Andy Clarke, Dance of Death brings together some of the best creative talent in Scottish theatre.

Arthur Miller's NO VILLAIN Transfers to the West End, June 14

Following the critically acclaimed, sell-out world premiere at The Old Red Lion in 2015, Arthur Miller's first ever play, No Villain, transfers to the West End, playing at Trafalgar Studios 2 from 14 June - 9 July, with a press night on 20 June. Directed by Sean Turner, with design by Max Dorey, lighting design by Jack Weir and sound design by Richard Melkonian, the cast will include David Bromley as 'Abe Simon', Nesba Crenshaw as 'Esther Simon', Kenneth Jay as 'Grandpa Barnett', Stephen Omer as 'Roth/Dawson/Man', and George Turvey as 'Ben Simon'.

Steppenwolf Adds CONSTELLATIONS to 2016-17 Season; Jon Michael Hill to Star

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the addition of Constellations by Nick Payne to this summer's lineup. Directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Producer Jonathan Berry, the Chicago premiere production features ensemble member Jon Michael Hill as 'Roland' (CBS's Elementary, Steppenwolf's Superior Donuts). Casting for the role of 'Marianne' will be announced at a later date. Constellations debuted in London at the Royal Court to critical acclaim before moving on to successful runs in both The West End and on Broadway. Previews begin May 26, 2016 (Press/Opening night is Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30pm) and the production runs through July 3, 2016 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre, 1650 N Halsted St. Tickets ($20 - $89) go on sale Friday, March 18 at 11am through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted), 312-335-1650 and steppenwolf.org.

HANGMEN Recoups in Under Six Weeks

Producers Robert Fox, Matthew Byam Shaw for Playful Productions and Royal Court Theatre Productions have revealed that Matthew Dunster's production of Martin McDonagh's Hangmen has recouped in under six weeks. The news comes as the production is announced the winner of the Critic's Circle 'Best New Play' and 'Best Design' Awards today. Following a sell out run at the Royal Court Theatre, Matthew Dunster's production of Martin McDonagh'sHangmen transferred to the West End for a strictly limited season in December and must end on 5 March.

The University of the Arts' Ira Brind School of Theater Arts announces the 2016 lineup for Polyphone, a "festival of the emerging musical" on the UArts campus in Philadelphia.  Running March 20-27, the 2016 the Polyphone festival produces staged concerts of new musicals and re-imagined canonical works offering professional composers, librettists and directors an opportunity to develop their work among the rich creative community of the Brind School at UArts.  The festival will program five musicals, including both classical and new works, with three performances each.

Geva Theatre Center presents Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird as part of the 2015-2016 ESL Wilson Stage Series. To Kill a Mockingbird is adapted by Christopher Sergel and directed by Mark Cuddy, with original music by Gregg Coffin. The production begins previews on February 16, opens on February 20 and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage until March 20.

The Donmar announces full casting for the UK premiere of Elegy by playwright Nick Payne. Directed by Artistic Director Josie Rourke, the full cast is Barbara Flynn as Carrie, Nina Sosanya as Miriam and Zoe Wanamaker as Lorna, all making a return to the Donmar stage. Elegy starts previews from 21 April and imagines a very-near future in which radical and unprecedented advances in medical science mean that it's now possible to extend life.
