Italy's Dario D'Ambrosi is a radical innovator of the theater and founder of the movement called Teatro Patologico (Pathological Theater). Having staged revolutionary interpretations of 'Richard III' in 1996 and 'Romeo and Juliet' in 2009, he is now taking on 'Hamlet' with a new full-length work, 'Hamlet Hallucinations.' La Mama E.T.C., D'Ambrosi's theatrical home in the USA, will present the work's world premiere tonight, October 17 to November 3.

I'm not sure what rock I've been hiding under, but I had never heard of Maripat Donovan's LATE NITE CATECHISM shows until Stages Repertory Theatre announced this summer's offering, LATE NITE CATECHISM LAS VEGAS: SISTER ROLLS THE DICE. This series all began in 1993 in Chicago, when Maripat Donovan opened the original LATE NITE CATECHISM. At the inception of the series and the original show, Maripat Donovan, an actress interested in doing a stand-up show about the lives of the saints, and Vicki Quade sat down to hash out a show. Since the beginning, it was planned as an interactive piece of theatre, and has since gone on to garner many positive reviews and leave audiences rolling in the aisles.

Long Beach Opera's Artistic and General Director Andreas Mitisek announces the company's 2014 plans to produce five rarely performed 20th and 21st century, “Out Of Bounds,” operas. The new season includes the Southern California premieres of Duke Ellington's “street opera” Queenie Pie and John Adams' controversial The Death of Klinghoffer; An American Soldier's Tale, Kurt Vonnegut 's provocative remake of Igor Stravinsky'sThe Soldier's Tale paired with Wynton Marsalis' jazz-driven A Fiddler's Tale; and a reprise of LBO audience favorite, David Lang's haunting The Difficulty of Crossing a Field. Three of the five composers–Adams, Marsalis and Lang–are actively contributing to today's music scene, while Stravinsky and Ellington made indelible marks on 20th century music.

Nancy Spero's repertoire of female figures run, dance, crawl, tumble, and strut across the page in the exhibition From Victimage to Liberation: Works from the 1980s & 1990s. This rarely-seen selection of Spero's collaged narratives show women transformed from historical contexts of suffering and subordination into protagonists in charge of their own destinies. From Victimage to Liberation is the first solo presentation of Spero's work in New York since her death in 2009. The exhibition will open to the public today, January 2, 2013, and the opening reception will follow on January 10, 2013.
