Japan Society announces its 2014-2015 Performing Arts Season featuring works by visionary artists in music, dance and theater. In this season, the Performing Arts Program presents two large-scale series of events: in music, The Shamisen Sessions in Fall 2014; and in Spring 2015, Stories from the War: Reflecting on WWII through Theater, a series of theater events marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII; in addition to long-running programs such as the Contemporary Dance Showcase, Annual Play Reading Series, a commission premiere and related events.

Super-charged Strictly Seattle performances feature six new works by some of Seattle's most celebrated choreographers: 2013 Stranger Genius awardee zoe | juniper, Pat Graney, Bennyroyce Royon, Jody Kuehner, Shannon Stewart, Rosa Vissers and Byron Carr at Broadway Performance Hall. To accommodate sold-out crowds Velocity has added a third performance-a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

The Nora Theatre Company presents Bryony Lavery's Her Aching Heart. The production includes original music composed for this production by Veronica Barron. The piece will be the Boston directorial debut for Lee Mikeska Gardner who was appointed Artistic Director of The Nora Theatre Company in November 2013 following a national search.

Australian theatre producer John Frost and Opera Australia Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini previously announced that Jason Scott Lee has had to withdraw from their production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic Broadway musical The King and I in Melbourne. Lee has torn a calf muscle which will preclude him from performing for the rest of the season.

Mitchell-Innes & Nash is delighted to announce its representation of the work of Nancy Graves through The Nancy Graves Foundation. The gallery's first Graves exhibition focuses on works depicting flora and fauna in media ranging from gouache and watercolor on paper, to painting, to bronze polychromed sculpture. The show presents work from the 1970s to the 1990s, and is on view through June 27, 2014.

Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy star as former lovers in Stephen Daldry's West End revival of David Hare's SKYLIGHT. The production begins performances tonight, June 6 at Wyndham's Theatre. This will be Mulligan's West End debut.

Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will feature Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.

Now through June 1, 2014 Houston Ballet offers up a mixed repertory program showcasing works by three of the twentieth century's greatest choreographers entitled Modern Masters. The program features the company premiere of Jir?i? Kylia?n's comic and delightful Sechs Ta?nze (Six Dances), along with revivals of his playful and sexy work Petite Mort, William Forsythe's explosive In the middle, somewhat elevated and George Balanchine's complex and inventive The Four Temperaments. Houston Ballet will give six performances of the program in the Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center.

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, partners with The Fine Family, The Irving Fine Society, and Brandeis University and its Department of Music to pay tribute to three central figures of the mid-century Boston musical landscape - Irving Fine, Harold Shapero and Arthur Berger. Celebrating Irving Fine's (1914-1962) centennial, BMOP spotlights this trio of lifelong friends and composers who advanced a unique vision for American music that incorporated the neoclassicism of Stravinsky, the clean elegance of Copland, and the edginess of serialism, all with a highly personal stamp. Delving into the darkly absurd corners of corporate America and middle-man-purgatory, director Michael Sladek makes his NYC stage debut with a fresh production of Below the Belt by acclaimed playwright, Richard Dresser. The 65-year-old Peninsula Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Mitchell Sardou Klein close their successful 2013-2014 season May 16 and 17 by continuing one of the Orchestra's cherished hallmarks: presenting an extremely gifted young soloist and winner of the Irving M. Klein International String Competition. The 2013 Competition winner, 18-year-old South Korea-born violinist Youjin Lee, will perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on a program with Brahms Fourth Symphony and Nielsen's Helios Overture Friday, May 16, 2014 at 8 p.m., San Mateo Performing Arts Center, and Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 8 p.m., Flint Center/DeAnza College.

The Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center ('the PAC') today announces the establishment of a core team of artistic leaders: David Lan (Artistic Director of London's Young Vic) as Consulting Artistic Director; Lucy Sexton (artist, producer, and Director of the New York Dance & Performance Awards (aka The Bessies)) as Associate Artistic Director; and Andy Hayles, Managing Partner of Charcoalblue (London's National Theatre, Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, and the future home of Brooklyn's St. Ann's Warehouse), as theater design consultant. The artistic team is collaborating with the PAC's staff, board and numerous consultants to create a place that is unique on the cultural landscapes of New York, the United States and the world.
