It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview has officially won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

On Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 8:00pm, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music Series presents James McVinnie and Darkstar at Northrop, University of MN, Minneapolis.

Glamour, power and greed in the musical that made history on Broadway. This is 'Sunset Boulevard', a super production that premiered on March 22 at Teatro Santander, Sao Paulo, and marks the return to the stages of one of the most beloved Brazilian theater duo: Marisa Orth and Daniel Boaventura. They will be the protagonists of the seven Tony Awards winning musical, featuring songs by Andrew Lloyd Weber.

OPERA NEWS was named a Print Merit winner in the best editorial design competition by The Society of Publication Designers (SPD), an organization serving the network of creative professionals, strengthening the editorial design community and shaping the future of visual culture. This follows recognition OPERA NEWS received last fall from the Society of Illustrators for the August 2018 piece 'Access Opera' by Robert Neubecker. The illustration was accepted into the Society's annual competition art show and book.

The world-renowned Martha Graham Dance Company returns to The Joyce Theater April 2–14, 2019 with The EVE Project, the Company's season theme celebrating female empowerment and the upcoming 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. The season focuses on both historical and contemporary ideas of the feminine. Commissioned works from five of today's top choreographers will be presented, and the classic repertory features Martha Graham's heroines and anti-heroines—all with an underlying statement about female power.

The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival has announced two upcoming shows in its 14th annual season, as well as a workshop series sharing the craft of Japanese theater arts. Festival patrons from New York can now travel directly to Provincetown for the Festival on a round-trip charter bus.

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training concludes its season with Shakespeare's classic romantic comedy, As You Like It. The show, which features the entire class of second-years, is directed by Jonathan Epstein and performed outdoors in the stunning Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. The production previews on Tuesday, April 9 at 8pm with a special pay-what-you-can show, offering tickets at whatever price patrons can afford when purchased the day of the performance, at a minimum of $3 per seat. The show officially opens on Wednesday, April 10 at 8pm, and runs through Saturday, April 27.  Performances will run Tuesday through Saturday.

Folks Operetta continues its 2018- 2019 season of the Reclaimed Voices Series with a concert celebration of Paul Ábraham's jazz operettas in Goodbye Berlin, Aloha Hawaii! This multimedia concert, written by Hersh Glagov and Gerald Frantzen, will take place at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago, Performance Penthouse, 915 E. 60th St., Chicago

Diversity Triumphs in Poetry and Liberty for Sarasota Ballet

"The Game's Afoot" by Ken Ludwig is opening March 22 at the Granite Theatre.

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is offering more, more, more for entertainment fans next month: more shows, more stars, more music, more laughs, more fun for everybody.

A star-studded cast led by Becky Ann Baker (HBO's "Girls."), 5-Time Tony nominee Dana Ivy (off-Broadway's original "Driving Miss Daisy"), 4-Time Oscar nominee Marsha Mason ("The Goodbye Girl") and Tony winner John Rubinstein ("Children of a Lesser God") will perform in a benefit reading of "The Torch-Bearers" for Bucks County Playhouse. Performances will be held in New York at the Westside Theatre on Monday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. and then two days later at Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:00 pm. The reading is the first of three benefit readings that will mark the Playhouse's 80th anniversary.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the first show of the 2019 Mainstage Season will be the World Premiere of THE PROMPTER (May 28- June 16) a new comedy by Wade Dooley; directed by Scott Schwartz, Bay Street Theater's Artistic Director. The other two previously announced shows will be the World Premiere of SAFE SPACE, which will now run from June 25 - July 21. This new play is by Alan Fox and will be directed by three-time Tony Award Winner Jack O'Brien (All My Sons, Hairspray, The Coast of Utopia). The third show will be a bold new re-envisioning of Irving Berlin's classic musical ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, (July 30 - August 25) with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, book by Herbert & Dorothy Fields. This production will be directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George, Bay Street's Frost/Nixon). The casts and creative teams will be announced soon. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has appointed Julie Goetz as its new Director of Communications. In her new role, Goetz will lead the Pittsburgh Symphony's local, national, and international communications efforts, as well as oversee public relations and social media activities. Goetz began her tenure with the Pittsburgh Symphony on January 14, 2019.

The Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Play House MFA Acting Program is proud to present Noel Coward's classic comedy Hay Fever. This madcap play about a weekend with the eccentric Bliss family will star the MFA Class of 2020 and a guest performer.  Director Jerrold Scott's production will take the audience back to the 1920's and remind them of the joy of life and fear of boredom. The show will run from February 27th-March 9th in Helen Theatre at Playhouse Square.

Based on a true story, Games by Henry Naylor is a cautionary tale for our times about two world-class Jewish-German athletes at Hitler's Olympics. Tackling identity, anti-semitism and the dangerous rise of far-right populism, the show was multi-award-winning sell-out success at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 where it received an astonishing 14 five and four star reviews. Now it will play in The Arch, Holden Street Theatres, 34 Holden Street Hindmarsh from 12 February 16 March as part of the 2019 Adelaide Fringe.

The 2019 season opens with THE GAME'S AFOOT by Ken Ludwig. It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. It is then up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop. - March 22 - April 7

Second Street Players proudly present To Kill A Mockingbird dramatized by Christopher Sergel from the book by Harper Lee. . Performance dates are February 1, 2,3,8, 9, and 10 Curtain is at 7pm for the Friday and Saturday shows and 2pm for the Sunday shows. Due to renovations at the Riverfront Theater all performances will be held at Milford High School 1019 N Walnut Street, Milford, Delaware.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra makes its much anticipated Sarasota debut on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 8 p.m., featuring Maestro Zubin Mehta as he takes on his final tour with the IPO before stepping down as the orchestra's music director in 2019. The program includes Partos' "Concertino for Strings," Schubert's "Symphony No. 3" and Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 6" ("Pathetique") on the Van Wezel stage! Maestro Mehta stated, "This upcoming U.S. tour with the Israel Philharmonic marks an important moment for me and for the orchestra."

2018 was an amazing year for theatre in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and if the proposed seasons for area theatres are any indication, 2019 is going to be a great one, too. From classic plays to super contemporary ones, and of course, a decent amount of musicals, this year has a lot for theatregoers to look forward to. Here are some productions I'm particularly excited about in the coming months.

The fourth annual 'American Dance Platform' is now on stage at The Joyce from January 3-7 2019. The performances feature six of our nation's captivating companies in three inspired, shared programs.

Ken Ludwig, the master of farce, brings us A Comedy of Tenors, the sequel to his 1989 Tony-winning Lend Me a Tenor, which is running through December 23 at Tipping Point Theatre. If you haven't seen Lend Me a Tenor, fear not, as this script and production certainly stands on its own and you can enjoy it just as equally. And, of course, with every great farce-a la Neil Simon's Rumors and Marc Camoletti's Boeing Boeing-- comes a lot of door slamming (an integral part to Monika Essen's posh set) and mistaken identities pulled off with comical finesse by Tipping Point's cast of seven.
