Marking the 25th anniversary of the John Waters' original film, Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly brings together an all-star cast of Broadway, film and TV stars for the full symphonic production of the Broadway musical, Hairspray. Hairspray: In Concert! will premiere with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra tonight, Jan. 11-13, 2013, and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Jan. 24-27, 2013.

Jenn Colella, Michael McCormick, Christiane Noll Join Broadway's CHAPLIN- Full Cast Announced!

The producers of the new musical CHAPLIN have just announced full casting for the production, which will star Rob McClure in the title role, as previously announced. The production will also feature Jim Borstelmann (Alf Reeves), Jenn Colella (Hedda Hopper), Erin Mackey (Oona O'Neill), Michael McCormick (Sennett, McGranery, Emcee), Christiane Noll (Hannah Chaplin), Zachary Unger (Young Charlie, Jackie) and Wayne Alan Wilcox (Sydney Chaplin).

Jill Paice & Ryan Silverman Will Lead REBECCA on Broadway at the Broadhurst This Fall

REBECCA, the new musical based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel, has found its male and female leads: Jill Paice will play the role of "I" and Ryan Silverman the role of "Maxim de Winter." REBECCA will open on Broadway Sunday, November 18 at The Broadhurst Theatre. Previews will begin Tuesday, October 30.

As BroadwayWorld reported this yesterday, Sylvester Stallone was out signing autographs when he arrived for a press conference to announce the new musical ROCKY in Hamburg, Germany. Today, we report that the production will open at the Operettenhaus in Hamburg Germany in November, 2012. As previously speculated, the production is aiming for Broadway in 2013. Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and Stephen Hoggett (American Idiot) will direct and choreograph, respectively. The musical features a book by Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and songs by Tony Award-winning team Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (composer) - the creators of Ragtime, The Glorious Ones, and Once on This Island.

Producers Ben Sprecher, Louise Forlenza, The Shubert Organization, Peter Bezemes, Tony Fusco, Larry Feinman, Nanda Anand and Peter Bogyo by special arrangement with/and based on the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien GmbH production, announced that the new musical REBECCA, based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel, will open on Broadway Sunday, April 22 at The Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, March 27. Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, Love Never Dies, Master Class and as Christine in last month's 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera in London) will play the lead role of 'I'. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

Philly's Broadway dreams will come true for the thirdconsecutive summer when The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partners with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present their Summer Performing Arts Intensive August 1 through Sunday, August 7, 2011. Acclaimed theatrical director and producer Richard Jay-Alexander and a roster of Broadway veterans will work with aspiring young performers from the Philadelphia area throughout the week in preparation for 'True Colors,' a one of a kind Broadway concert open to the public. The Broadway style concert event will take place at the Merriam Theater on Saturday, August 6th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. Sylvester Stallone was an unexpected guest at the SISTER ACT opening last night. Not one to frequest the Broadway red carpets, Stallone revealed on The View this morning that part of the reason for his attendance was because he's thinking about bringing one of his movies to the stage. Though no announcement has been made regarding a new stage adaptation, back in 2007, Stallone was busy developing ROCKY: THE MUSICAL. Could Rocky Balboa on the Great Way Way be a reality once again?

Kennedy Center to Merge with National Opera

According to the NY Tmes, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Washington National Opera will merge this July. The financially troubled National Opera will still have its own board and receive its own donations, but all other funds will be merged with the Kennedy Center's.
