Luminario Ballet of Los Angeles is a very unique and valuable, strong and powerful Dance Company. They offered up two fantastic evenings of Dance, Song, Music and a Q&A, last weekend at Club Fais Do Do, and this past weekend at the Skirball Center, in conjunction with a Fashion Exhibit of Rudy Gernreich's '60s fashions that tied in perfectly with the 2nd dance piece presented that evening. The costumes used in 'Inscape,' were originally created by Rudi Gernreich at the same time the piece was set, in 1976. 'Choose Your Identity' June 16, 2019 The evening began with singer Tawny Ellis and her band, performing several selections from her new upcoming album release 'Love Life.' Dressed in a beautiful, flowing, lacy white dress, she looked like an angel and sang like one, playing her matching white Lap Steel and omni chord instruments with a passionate, down-to-earth country sound that was soothingly sultry, with lyrics that commanded your attention. She and her talented band played selections from her upcoming release; one of them being 'Pretend Love,' which was accompanied by a beautiful dance, choreographed by the Artistic Director, Judith FLEX Helle, performed by the incredible Kelly Vittetoe, an extraordinary soloist, en pointe, accompanied by David Tai Kim and Cory Goel. The strongest ballerina I have ever seen, (Ms. Vittetoe) that up-close; performing magnificently, with one of the most beautiful bodies, face and feet, ever. She is exquisite, and her two partners were also equally impressive. The exactness of technique performed by all three dancers was just heavenly. Up close and personal. What a treat!

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. The outstanding young musicians of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYO Canada) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) are joining forces for the first time for a four-city Canadian tour in November of 2019. This celebration of international musical collaboration and friendship will feature a total of 76 musicians between the two orchestras.

Public Theater announced the line-up today for The Public's 2019-20 Season 

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

For one night only at The Beacon Theatre in New York City, America's preeminent progressive rock band, KANSAS, will be performing two of rock's most iconic albums, Leftoverture and Point of Know Return, in their entireties. The 29th annual Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival (Inside Out), championing innovative LGBTQ filmmakers from across the globe, revealed its full feature and short film lineup. The announcement was made today by Inside Out's Executive Director Andria Wilson and the festival's Director of Programming Andrew Murphy. Inside Out, which launched the first ever annual LGBTQ Film Finance Forum, has established itself as an international home and incubator for LGBTQ emerging and established filmmakers. This year's festival will take place May 23 to June 2, 2019.

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the nonprofit cultural center located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, today announced that Elvis Costello & The Imposters and Blondie will perform at the center on Saturday, July 20th as the first stop on their coast-to-coast co-headlining tour.

Woof. This week is the biggest decluttering task I've attempted yet-throwing out my Evita CDs. I got 99 problems and Evita CDs are all of them. And that's not including the vinyl and the bootlegs on audio cassette. And the strange flash drives people handed me in dark bars muttering something about Elaine Paige and 'A New Argentina.'

Composer Sebastian Currier's Ghost Trio, written for violinist and longtime champion of his music Anne-Sophie Mutter, receives its world premiere at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, March 12 at 8:00 p.m. Performed by Ms. Mutter with cellist Daniel Muller-Schott and pianist Lambert Orkis, the work is a piano trio that explores the history and legacy of the genre through allusions to classic works. Ms. Mutter, Mr. Muller-Schott, and Mr. Orkis reprise the work at Chicago's Symphony Center on Sunday, March 17 at 3:00 p.m.

T. Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, announces the next T. Fellow is Rachel Sussman, the seventh fellow in the one year program designed to educate and empower new creative producers. The fellow will receive a stipend of $10,000 with a $20,000 budget for the development of a new theatrical production, and will have access to courses in Columbia's MFA Theatre Management & Producing Program.

Arkansas Repertory Theatre announced today that William Trice has been named the theatre's new executive artistic director. Trice, a Little Rock native, has served as Broadway producer in New York since 2010, producing work that has earned him three Tony Awards and five nominations.

The Moonlight Cultural Foundation (MCF) announces the promotion of Jennifer Bradford to the position of Executive Director effective January 1, 2019. Bradford is a seven-year employee of the Foundation and for the past eighteen months has served as Director of Operations and Outreach. The Foundation, founded in 1974, is the 501 (c)(3) non-profit fundraising arm of the City of Vista's Moonlight Stage Productions entering its 39th season in 2019.

The Donmar Warehouse today announces full casting for Berberian Sound Studio conceived for the stage by Joel Horwood and Tom Scutt. The lack of permanence that allows new artists endless chances to bring their own interpretations to classic material is the most significant aspect that separates live theatre from movies and television. But in musical theatre, it's sometimes the case that a director/choreographer such as Jerome Robbins or Bob Fosse may create visuals that become so indelible in the public's mind that they become fixtures of most remountings. In the case of A CHORUS LINE, it's the whole show.
