The Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre completes its 21st season with 'Broadway Duets' - a cabaret performance celebrating some of the greatest duets ever written for the Broadway stage. Presenting classic songs by Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and many more will be four favorites of the Signature stage - Felicia Curry (Les Misérables), James Gardiner ([title of show]), Jake Odmark (Sunset Boulevard), and Bayla Whitten (Chess). Renowned duets from Wicked, Damn Yankees, Godspell, Hairspray, Hello, Dolly!, Aida, among others, will be featured by the talented foursome. Directed by Signature's Resident Director Matthew Gardiner (Side by Side by Sondheim, Art) in the intimacy of the 110-seat ARK Theatre, 'Broadway Duets' will be presented from June 7th through June 11th.

Following thirteen sold out shows, The Laurie Beechman Theatre will continue their hit series, SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED, for a fourteenth installment, Monday, May 23 at 7pm. Included in the cast are an array of Broadway and cabaret alums, including Eric Michael Gillett (The Frogs, Kiss Me, Kate, Sweet Smell of Success), Jana Robbins (Mazeppa in the 1989 revival of Gypsy), and Lucia Spina (B'way's Legally Blonde, South Pacific). We're also pleased to welcome three very special guests, each of whom created roles in Sondheim musicals: Crista Moore (Louise in the 1989 Broadway revival of Gypsy), Teri Ralson (Company's original Jenny and Mrs. Nordstrom in the original A Little Night Music) and Sarah Rice(Sweeney Todd's original Johanna). Recently, Sondheim Unplugged received the 2011 Bistro Award for Outstanding Cabaret Series, and was nominated for the 2011 MAC Award.

And the Curtain Rises marks the third production presented as part of Signature's groundbreaking American Musical Voices Project, the largest commissioning program for new musicals in the country, following Michael John LaChiusa's Giant in 2009 and Ricky Ian Gordon's Sycamore Trees last year.

Where's Charley?, based on Brandon Thomas' Charley's Aunt, has a book by George Abbott and music and lyrics by Frank Loesser. According to a report by Baz Bamigboye for UK Daily Mail, Sierra Boggess will be taking part in a reading for the upcoming musical adaptation of REBECCA. The show is based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier. Carolee Carmello and Hugh Panaro will also participate in the New York reading.

KansasCity.com reports that the Kansas City Ballet will present the world premiere of Maury Yeston's Tom Sawyer - A Ballet in Three Acts in the inaugural season at their Kauffman Performing Arts Center. Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director William Whitener made the announcement yesterday, according to the report.

The third national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, known as the Music Box Company, played its final performance on Halloween, October 31, 2010, at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles - appearing at the show's curtain call were none other than composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and the show's original Christine, Sarah Brightman.

This national tour remains the most successful and longest continuously-running tour in U.S. history. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA began performances in Los Angeles in May 1989 (Christine Company), and played for over 4 years. Performances of this farewell engagement will begin September 23rd, 2010.
