Amas Musical Theatre in association with North Haven Arts and Enrichment has announced that Broadway's Josh Grisetti (Broadway Bound, Enter Laughing), Alli Mauzey (Wicked, Cry-Baby), and Kevin Pariseau (Legally Blonde) will head the cast of the New York Premiere of Red Eye of Love, a new musical (based on the 1961 play by Arnold Weinstein) with book and lyrics by Arnold Weinstein and John Wulp, music by Sam Davisand scenic design by renowned American artist Robert Indiana. Directed by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling, previews will begin at the Dicapo Opera Theatre (184 East 76th Street at Lexington Avenue) on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Opening night set for Thursday, September 4 at 8pm. Performances will continue through September 28, 2014.

The New York Philharmonic will present a semi-staged production of Kern & Hammerstein's Tony Award-winning musical Show Boat, November 5 - 8, 2014. Vanessa Williams will star as Julie, Julian Ovenden will star as Gaylord Ravenal, and Lauren Worsham will star as Magnolia, all in their Philharmonic debuts. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Program details for the Toronto-based Luminato festival, now in its eighth year, were unveiled Tuesday morning in a packed room at the modern MaRS Discovery Centre. The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 12th- annual summer residency there, performing six concerts July 18-25, 2014. Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct three programs, July 18-20, featuring works by composers for whom he has advocated during his tenure, ranging from Nielsen to The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in- Residence Christopher Rouse. The other Philharmonic concerts will be conducted by Bramwell Tovey (July 23 and 25) and Ted Sperling (July 24), and will feature works by Copland, Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Loesser, among others.

A new production of Johann Strauss Jr.'s New Year's Eve classic, the comedic operetta Die Fledermaus, will open at the Met on December 31. Jeremy Sams, writer and creator of the Met's Baroque pasticheThe Enchanted Island, makes his company debut as director with the new staging, which is set in Vienna at the turn of the 20thcentury. Sams also contributes new lyrics for Strauss's work, which will be performed entirely in English; Tony Award-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane makes his Met debut with new dialogue. Adam Fischer conducts a cast of rising opera stars and Broadway performers. The cast is led by Susanna Phillips and Christopher Maltman as the unhappily married Rosalinde and Eisenstein; Jane Archibald as Rosalinde's feisty maid, Adele; Anthony Roth Costanzo as Prince Orlofsky; Michael Fabiano as Rosalinde's former lover, Alfred; Paulo Szot as the bumbling Dr. Falke; and Patrick Carfizzi as the prison superintendent, Frank. Broadway stars Danny Burstein and Betsy Wolfe make Met debuts as the drunken jailer, Frosch, and Adele's sister, Ida. Robert Jones is set and costume designer for the production, with lighting design by Jennifer Schriever and choreography by Stephen Mear in their Met debuts.

NYC Parks First Deputy Commissioner Liam Kavanagh today joined Executive Director of the Open Space Alliance/North Brooklyn Parks Administrator Ed Janoff, Assembly Member Joseph Lentol, Senator Daniel Squadron, Council Member Steve Levin and NY1's Pat Kiernan to open the McCarren Ice Rink, the only public ice rink in North Brooklyn, for its inaugural season.
