4th Wall Theatre Company (formerly Stark Naked Theatre Company) is excited to announce its First Annual Up Close Cocktails Benefit, hosted by Trish Rigdon, Chair of Media Arts at The Art Institute of Houston. The Up Close Cocktails Benefit is Wednesday, November 9th from 6-8pm. We're transforming our theatre at Spring Street Studios, for an elegant cocktail night celebrating 4th Wall's bright future and the awesome generosity of our patrons. Hackney Empire today announced the full cast of its brand new pantomime for 2016, Sleeping Beauty. The West End's leading lady Alexia Khadime (Wicked, The Book of Mormon, The Lion King) will be returning to the site of her stage debut to star as Princess Tahlia (Sleeping Beauty). She will be joined by Olivier Award-winner Sharon D Clarke who returns to Hackney Empire after her appearance in Mother Goose in 2014. They are joined by Gavin Spokes who makes his dameing debut, he joins the Hackney Empire family straight from his Olivier Award-nominated performance as Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls in the West End.

Emily Blunt can officially add the approval of the original Mary Poppins herself to a growing list of accolades. According to Entertainment Weekly, when Rob Marshall, the director of the upcoming film, first told Julie Andrews the top-secret news that Emily Blunt would be playing the titular character in the highly-anticipated sequel, her reaction was, 'Oh, wonderful!'

4th Wall Theatre Company (formerly Stark Naked Theatre Company) opens its 2016-2017 season on September 9th  with Sam Shepard's Tony-nominated masterpiece, True West-a modern American classic exploring themes of sibling rivalry, art as commerce, and what it means to 'be a man.' Like a runaway train, this dark comedy about two brothers and their mutual resentment takes audiences on a thrill ride into the dark side of the human psyche, with laughs and unexpected moments of revelation along the way.  In its world premiere, the San Francisco Chronicle noted that True West is "clear, funny, naturalistic. It's also opaque, terrifying, surrealistic.  If that sounds contradictory, you're on to one aspect of Shepard's winning genius-the ability to make you think your watching one thing while at the same time he's presenting another."

Professional vocalist Kelly Morris Rowan will return to The Winter Park Playhouse on July 13 and 14, 2016 to premiere her new cabaret in the theatre's popular Spotlight Cabaret Series - Rowan will  treat cabaret audiences to her solo cabaret, Diary of a New York City Nanny, which will chronicle her comedic adventures as an actor/nanny in the Big Apple  through pop and musical theatre favorites. Christopher Leavy, Playhouse Musical Director, will accompny on the piano. Kelly was last seen at The Winter Park Playhouse last Spring, in the Jerry Herman musical revue Showtune! where she impressed patrons with her amazing vocals and powerful performances. Kelly also performs as a full-time cast member of The Voices of Liberty at Walt Disney World as well as at Univeral Studios and Capone's.

Rosie O'Donnell will go head to head with EMPIRE's 'Cookie' in an upcoming episode of the hit FOX drama series.

It's Mary that we love, and Mary's coming back! According to Variety, Rob Marshall (Into the Woods, Chicago) will direct a Disney reboot of their classic 1964 film, Mary Poppins. The project will be produced by John DeLuca and Marc Platt. The film will reportedly take place 20 years after the events of the original movie, and will include 'storylines from the P.L. Travers' children books focusing on the magical nanny's continued adventures with the Banks family.' Casting has not yet been announced. 

While August is quickly winding down, much of the country is still engulfed in an oppressive summer heat. Whether or not it's global warming (it's global warming), there is no escaping the Dog Days of Summer.
