Visiting Artist Claudia Bitran To Recreate Sinking Of Titanic With U-M Synchronized Swim Club

With the help of students in a University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design class and the U-M Synchronized Swimming Club, New York-based multimedia artist Claudia Bitran will recreate scenes from director James Cameron's 'Titanic' at U-M's Canham Natatorium this week.   Since 2014, Bitran, who is Chilean-American, has been reinterpreting 'Titanic' with an intentionally experimental shot-for-shot recreation. Her dynamic, long-term project has involved more than 500 participants from 15 cities across Chile and the U.S.

Established in 1994 through the will of legendary stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize is one of the most prestigious honors given to artists in the United States and bears one of the largest cash awards, currently valued at approximately $250,000.

The Sacred Fools Theater Company is kicking off its 22nd Season with Burglars of Hamm for a remount of the award-winning Resa Fantastiskt Mystisk. Resa was recently produced at this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival where it took home Top of the Fringe honors. The first Mainstage show of the Sacred Fools season, Resa opens Friday, October 5 and runs through Saturday, November 3 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm. BWW Review: Linehan and Ellis March in Step in Reagle Music Theatre's THE MUSIC MAN

Mark Linehan and Jennifer Ellis march in step in a glorious rendering of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN to close out Reagle Music Theatre's 50th Anniversary Summer Season with a bang. Director/choreographer Susan M. Chebookjian's staging is seamless, with one production number after another showing off the ensemble's terpsichorean talent with challenging dance combinations, and Music Director Dan Rodriguez conducts a 12-piece orchestra that brings out the brio of Willson's score. The 1957 Tony Award-winning Best Musical still has lots of get up and go, with stirring marches and patter songs, romantic ballads, and a town full of characters as American as apple pie.
