Second Thought Theatre continues its 2017 season of change with the area premiere of Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee. Local director/actor Christie Vela returns to direct for the company after making her acting debut for Second Thought last summer in A Kid Like Jake. Straight White Men begins with previews on Wednesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 6. All performances of Straight White Men will take place at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets to Straight White Men can be purchased online at 2TT.co.

The Old Globe presents Red Velvet by Lolita Chakrabarti. In-demand director Stafford Arima (Broadway's Allegiance, Off Broadway's Altar Boyz, West End's Ragtime) returns to the Globe, following Allegiance and Ace, to helm the award-winning drama, which runs March 25 - April 30, 2017 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage of the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Casting has been announced for The Liar, David Ives's "translaptation" of Pierre Corneille's 1643 farce of the same name, according to Ed Rutherford, the Promethean Theatre Ensemble artistic associate who is directing the production. The title character, Dorante, a charming young man who cannot tell the truth, will be played by Josh Hambrock. Dorante's love interest Clarice (who he believes to be named Lucrece, the name of her friend who will be played by Katherine Schwartz) will be played by ensemble member Meghann Tabor.
