San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Sonoma State University's Green Music Center today announced The National Brass Ensemble Project, a partnership formed to present a newly created group, the National Brass Ensemble, in a week-long residency taking place June 9 - 14, 2014 in Rohnert Park and San Rafael, California. The Ensemble, a singular collection of musicians from across the United States, features 24 leading brass players and two percussionists from the Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland, Detroit Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia and San Francisco Symphony orchestras.

Chance Theater is officially announcing the performance line-up for our third annual 24hr Chance-a-thon, which will take place today, March 22 from 10am-11pm, and Sunday, March 23 from 9am-10pm.

The New York Philharmonic will present its 11th season of Summertime Classics, July 2-6, 2014, featuring five themed concerts with Bramwell Tovey, who has been the host and conductor of the series since its founding in 2004. On the first program, July 2-3, 2014, titled "Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Friends," the New York Philharmonic will perform Shostakovich's Festive Overture; Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1, with pianist Joyce Yang as soloist; Musorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain; Rachmaninoff's arrangement of his own Vocalise; and Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, and Marche slave. The second program, July 4-6, 2014, titled "Star-Spangled Celebration," will feature the New York Philharmonic and United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps - "The Commandant's Own," which is celebrating its 80th-anniversary year - in a program that includes Copland's Clarinet Concerto, with Associate Principal Clarinet Mark Nuccio as soloist, and Fanfare for the Common Man; Gershwin's "Strike Up the Band" from Strike Up the Band; Sousa marches; and more. In these performances Major Brian Dix, director and commanding officer of "The Commandant's Own," will share conducting duties with Bramwell Tovey.

Borodin's operatic masterpiece Prince Igor will return to the Met tonight, February 6 for the first time since 1917, in a new production by acclaimed director Dmitri Tcherniakov in his Met debut.

With James Levine on the podium, and Thomas Hampson in the title role, Deborah Voigt will make her role debut as Marie in Alban Berg's harrowing opera Wozzeck at New York's Metropolitan Opera (March 6 - 22). The revival of this 'arrestingly abstract ' (New York Times) staging of Berg's landmark opera is highly anticipated, pairing two beloved American singers with a conductor - the Met's music director - who is widely regarded as one of the work's most passionate advocates. The fifth and final performance of Wozzeck this season will be broadcast live on Saturday, March 22 in the Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast series on WQXR 105.9 FM and online at www.wqxr.org. In April, Voigt heads out for a four-city recital tour, taking her to three venues in California and a return engagement in the 75th anniversary season of Boston's popular Celebrity Series. On May 14, she returns to the Met to host the 'Live in HD' broadcast of Rossini's La Cenerentola.

'The best jazz repertory band in the country' (The New Yorker) honors The First Lady of Song-Ella Fitzgerald-by seizing a special moment in American history. Pulling original, little played arrangements done for Ella in the '40s and '50s-charts penned by superstar arrangers such as Billy May, Count Basie, Billy Strayhorn and Benny Carter- Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and the ever-elegant Kim Nazarian will join together in an evening at Harris Center for the Arts of 'fascinating rarities...each played with as much skill as authenticity' (Chicago Tribune).

Prospect Theater Company will present a private developmental reading of the original musical The Underclassman on Monday, November 25th at New 42nd Street Studios (229 West 42nd Street, NYC). The Underclassman follows the early life of F. Scott Fitzgerald, from 1914 - 1917. Nylon Fusion Theatre Company presents two world-premiere one-act works by Don Nigro Marina and Mata Hari, at Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, about two women who bravely faced personal battles as they were caught up in the turmoil of the two world wars. Directed by Ivette Dumeng, and starring Tatyana Kot in the title roles, with Curtis James Nielsen, Marina and Mata Hari will be performed together at the Robert Moss Theatre at 440 Lafayette Street beginning tomorrow, June 15th.

Performances at the World Cruise Center in San Pedro, CA. begin tonight, June 15, 2013 and continue on June 22 and 23.
