TheatreWorks Silicon Valley kicks off its 48th season with the World Premiere of The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga. Drawn from one of the first ever graphic novels, set to an infectious ragtime and vaudeville score by local composer/lyricist Min Kahng, the comic musical follows four Japanese immigrants in a world of possibility and prejudice: turn-of-the-twentieth-century San Francisco. From a tumultuous earthquake to an exhilarating World's Fair, the quartet pursues the American Dream, despite limited options in the land of opportunity. Directed by TheatreWorks Associate Artistic Director Leslie Martinson, and developed at TheatreWorks' 2016 New Works Festival, the World Premiere ofThe Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga will be presented July 12-August 6, 2017 (press opening: July 15) at Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University is once again part of the annual CelebrateHAMILTON program, organized by the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society to celebrate the life and legacy of the Founding Father and first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. Liberty Hall Museum will be part of the Young Immigrant Hamilton Tour today, July 6 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The tour explores historic sites associated with Hamilton's time in the Elizabethtown, New Jersey area as a young preparatory school student.

Immediately following the February celebrations of the Dominican Republican's strides for freedom and liberty, Repertorio Español introduces its new production En el Nombre de Salome (In the name of Salome) to the Bronx, after a successful debut in Manhattan. Based on a novel by Julia Alvarez, written by Marco Antonio Rodriguez and directed by Jose Zayas this new play tells the story of Dominican poet and political advocate Salome Ureña.
