The hit musical comedy THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is making its way to the Peninsula Players from July 25 to August 12. 

The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) and Mills Entertainment announced today that Will Gilbert, co-host of The Rhode Show on WPRI CBS 12, will be the moderator for WILLIAM SHATNER AND STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN at PPAC today, May 12 at 7:30P.  The Rhode Show airs live Monday through Friday at 9A; tune in next week, May 7 - 11, for more information on a chance to win tickets to see the May 12th event.

The Drowsy Chaperone makes its Theatre Memphis debut on the Lohrey Stage March 9-31, 2018. In this comedic call back to the Golden Age, a man appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording 'comes to life' and you have the ingredients for a masterful madcap evening that lovingly pokes fun at the musical theatre genre. Lovers on the eve of their wedding, desperate, bumbling friends, not-so-bright characters, imposters, and more perform one toe-tapping, rousing musical number after another.

Working intimately with directors like Yasujiro Ozu, Akira Kurosawa, Kenji Mizoguchi and Kon Ichikawa on some of their most important films, Kazuo Miyagawa (1908-99) pushed Japanese cinema to its highest artistic peaks through his lyrical, innovative, and technically flawless camerawork. Considered the greatest cinematographer of postwar Japanese cinema whose career endured through the 1990s, Miyagawa has influenced generations of leading filmmakers around the world.

BroadwayWorld.com has learned that FIDDLER ON THE ROOF composer Jerry Bock passed away last night, at the age of 81. This comes just one week after the passing of FIDDLER bookwriter Joseph Stein.

The Theatre School at DePaul University will present The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico Garc a Lorca, translated by Jo Clifford, directed by Jeremy Aluma. Over the past five years, Jeff Macauley has arguably been one of the most prolific performers on the New York Cabaret scene, garnering rave reviews and award nominations for shows paying tribute to legendary composers such as Norman Gimbel, Henry Mancini, and Michel Legrand. Now Macauley is thrilled to be reviving another highly praised show that he first performed more than 20 years ago--a celebration of the Golden Age of music in films called Hollywood Party-Movie Songs 1928-1936. The three-date run-with Macauley's long-time Musical Director Tex Arnold at piano-launches at Pangea, Downtown's Alternative Supper-Club, on October 30 at 7 pm (other dates are November 30 and December 15, also at 7 pm).

Berkshire Theatre Group announces the final production of its upcoming 2017 Summer Season will be Mark Medoff's Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-winning play, Children of a Lesser God, which began performances on Thursday, June 22 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening night is set for tonight, June 24 at 8pm.

Mad Cow Theatre continues its twentieth season with ANIMAL CRACKERS, a musical adapted from the Marx Brothers' film of the same name. The plot centers around a party honoring Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding, which is attended by larger-than-life guests, originally played by the Marx Brothers. Mad Cow is known for producing lesser-known shows. ANIMAL CRACKERS  was originally produced on Broadway in 1928, before the Golden Age of musicals. It has a vaudeville feel--broad comedy, from puns to prop comedy to outrageous physical humor.
