San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater ushers in the new year with the first offerings of the company's year-long celebration of the centennial of August Strindberg's death; the company will honor the playwright's vast career throughout 2012 with symposiums, lectures, and staged readings of his works as part of the Hidden Classics Reading Series and RISK IS THIS…The Cutting Ball New Experimental Plays Festival, culminating in a festival of fully-staged new translations of Strindberg's five Chamber Plays, entitled Strindberg Cycle: The Chamber Plays in Rep, in October of 2012. Broadway San Jose - A Nederlander Presentation in association with Team San Jose proudly announces its 2010-2011 Season, which includes the South Bay debut of the ground-breaking Broadway show about hardship, redemption and the healing power of love, THE COLOR PURPLE; a rendezvous with the sizzling Broadway smash hit BURN THE FLOOR; the acclaimed Beatles concert RAIN - A TRIBUTE TO THE BEATLES; and STOMP, an impudent symphonic rhapsody on found instruments from trashcans to zippo lighters-with some brand new surprises. Audiences will also be invited to prepare for the Sabbath with Tevye the Dairyman in THE FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, soak up some sun on a matrimonial Mediterranean island with the ABBA-infused musical MAMMA MIA!, or drop a dime in the jukebox and hand jive back to a time of poodle skirts and leather jackets with GREASE.
